evasive bombers - BF-109 F4 - 24.07.2008
Possible to make bombers more evasive when engaged by fighters/fighter-bombers?
It would be more realistic if they could break formation and try to evade when engaged.
I dont know about heavy bombers like 4 or more engines, that would be difficult but 2 engine bombers should be possible.
They just stand there going straight waiting to get shot down.

they stay in formation because then they have better change of survival: the more bombers in formation, the more defensive gunnery. if they break formation and try evading the fighters then they eventually get shot down much faster and with much bigger losses
edit: corrected grammar

US Navy and Marine pilots commented on the fact that Japanese bomber pilots almost never broke formation, even when they were being shot down one by one by fighters moving through their formation- they were taught to fly in close formation no matter what.

Anything with a gun pointing out the back has a better chance of survival by keeping it tight. I really don't think this mod would have much practical or historical use. Sorry, thats a neg from me!
