POV hat/ panning problems - Fight2FlyPhoto - 30.07.2008
Alright, I'm about ready to start throwing stuff with frustration.
First of all I have a Saitek X-52 HOTAS with CH Products pedals.
When I first started playing the game I had some issues where the POV hat (number 1, the lowest hat on the stick) I couldn't assign it to do ANYTHING. It would say "JoyButton 16 ID2" for example Nothing. I didn't worry about it for several days. All of the sudden the POS thing starts to work after I change some random button assignment and then the POV hat started working to pan the view. WONDERFULL! It rocked! Flying was way easier. Unfortunately I had to reinstall IL2. Same problem. Did this twice where it just changed "on its own." My pedals are ID1, and now for some godforsaken reason, POV hat number 2 on the stick shows up as "ID2" and POV hat number 1 shows up as "ID5" WTF? "HatSwitch 0 ID5" for pressing it up.
Now I'm at attempt number three, and am getting absolutly PO'd because I can't retrace my steps and figure this out. I've gone through the links in the other post regarding controller ID's and nothing changes! I've attempted to set a keyboard assignment to pan, then use the SST software to assign that to the POV hat and it STILL DOESN'T work! In fact, the freaking keyboard assignment itself doesn't even work.
Pleas, please, please, someone out there tell me there is a simple way to fix this. As I said, I "easily" fixed it somehow about a month ago.
Right now I just want to throw my joystick through my monitor.lol I love this game and would like it to actually work correctly.
Thanks,
A very upset simmer who just wants to shoot some planes down. :x

Try without SST and use directx assignments to determine if its hardware or software problem.
Saitek forum should have software removal instructions. Or, remove with uninstaller and remove reg entries. Then plug it in and let windows install it. Test it in game controllers, then use game directx assignments.
If all is ok, reinstall SST and try again.
