More realistic AI ? - eddie_brunette - 11.08.2008

Hi all. I've decided to become involved in the MODDING community, but I do need some help/advise.

I'm not into the modding of new aircraft/maps/effects, BUT I would like to mod the AI to be more realistic.

My goal is:

To fix AI physics, so it is the same as the player e.g.:

1) Affected by torque and gyro effects
2) Sniper shots through clouds must be corrected
3) Same A/C physics as player (doesn't it completely annoy you when you dive away in your F6F and after reaching 450mph, you check you 6 and there is the damn Zero. Everybody knows a Zero cant dive!!)
4) High G turns doesn

No one has the faintest idea about this, but I'm supporting you 100% Keep going, never give up, this is something very much needed!

Also, some new defensive manouvers would be appreciated, not only those rollin' and rollin'...
and don't forget the blind spots. AI can see you in their blind spots, which is completely ruins the gameplay.

Thanks I never thought of that and now I remember those pesky tailgunners in turns as well

Sorry for posting in wrong place.
Can anybody tell me which program I've got to use for changing the AI physics? I only find programs for the flight models

Thanks

Notepad or Word Pad.

There is no 'tool' out there for any of this sort of work, and definitely not a tool to do the Flight Models for Il2. Its standard note/wordpad for modifying these things

Thank You. Any chance you know which file I must edit? I presume it is changing values and then test, test, test

AI upgrade - Kopfdorfer - 12.08.2008

As usual, I know this comment will get some knickers twisted, but I want to add a (simple!) comment to this thread contemplating the upgrade of AI behaviour.
One additonal bugaboo I have is the eerie propensity for an AI bandit you are stalking and creeping up on from the low 5,6,7 o'clock is the uncanny ability for their sensor array to pick you up at around 400m range, and start evasive maneouvres. Now I can grudgingly forgive everything about this behaviour EXCEPT the fact that there is no way a Single seat fighter could see in that low 6 o'clock position, without executing a wing dip and rudder kick once in a while. All I want is to see them doing this maneouvre ONCE IN A WHILE - only one plane in a flight at a time - so that I FEEL THEY ARE HAVING A LOOK before they attempt evasion.
You could incorporate a frequency of checking related to AI pilot experience.

I know this requires a FM alteration, but as those of you who I have commented to know, I feel this must be in the future of this site to reach the next level.

Ok but i have a question.

What happens when somebody hosts a coop with the modded AI and somebody joins with out the mod?
Will they fly like the hosts or will it mess everything up?
