Engine power - Cespenar - 13.08.2008
Hi all,
I want my IL-2 to be able to climb like the non-player models.
The power of the engine is just so inadequate.
I see planes in the game climbing at a steep rate, and I cant follow.
Don't tell me to use auto-pilot, because I can't lead the enemy to shoot.
Is there a mod, or some adjustment to give the plane more power than the basic single player has???

Hello Crespenar.
First off, greetings and welcome to AAA, we hope you enjoy your stay. Now, to you request. We do not do FM mods here that alter stock aircraft; its simply against our policy.
(The link is inoperative)
I can, however, tell you that according to the word of Oleg, the AI use the same FM for all aircraft that we, the players, use. So, I would suggest engine and aerodynamic management improvements.

although officially the AI use the same FM as manned planes everyone know that they also cheat...
Being flown by a computer they always have Perfect settings for everything power/flaps/trim etc. so it takes us a lot of practise to learn how to fly as well as them ...and they also are not hindered by clouds or black/red vision of G forces...and they rarely seem to overheat
My advice is, especially if new to the sim, you switch off overheating in the difficulties section, and even black/red outs if you want...just to get fairly even with the AI. If after becoming more experienced you feel ready to fly all out, and let the cheating AI get their kicks, then more power to your elbow

adjusting prop pitch depending on aircraft may give you a boost.

Thanks guys, and thanks again for the replies.
