Ideas for new german planes for the il-2 game - MOD wishes - DK-nme - 23.08.2008

Hi again.
German planes for il-2 game - again a dream of future MOD's to spice up the game...
Yet again I have plastered the post with loads of pictures, and again I couldn't find any smaller pictures - sorry!

Dornier 17Z - the flying pencil, simply a must in the game

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dornier_Do_17

Dornier 215 - DB601 version of the Do-17z

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dornier_Do_215

Dornier 217 E to K versions - standard, solid or fully glass nosed versions either with BMW 801 radial or DB 601 (DB 603) in-line engines

Focke wulf Ta-154 - the german mosquito, that wasn't deployed into active service (sadly - a real good looking bird!)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ta_154

http://mitglied.lycos.de/lastdingo/ta154.htm

Heinkel 112 - the predecessor of the he-100. The he-112 was the prefered type by the testpilots who flew both the Bf-109 prototype and the prototype of the he-112. It was used by the hungarians and the rumanians, during wwII

Junkers 88 C-G versions - solid nose with or without radar

Hi.
I can remove all pictures, if U like. Wasn't aware of the bandwidth problem...

Which of the planes are already in progress?

I have surfed alot, these last many days and I haven't seen any of them - perhaps I read something about a suggesting of the solid nosed Ju-88. Didn't seem serious though...

Yes, a lot of these are already WIPS (apparently) and please, we don't need the huge pics. Most of us already know what these aircraft look like and the rest are quite capable of following links.

- Slow - 24.08.2008

Okay, let set this straight. How would you like it if you're making a He-219 and a Do-17, then somebody comes to you saying "I want He-177, Do-17, Ju-188, Ju-288, Ju-388, Do-217" .

Do you actually think we did NOT think of these planes yet? Have patience!

Yeah! A bit of patience wouldn't go astray - we still have a 1,001 red planes to mod before we start thinking about blue aircraft that were over-looked in this sim!

kidding, of course - I know blue gets an occasional look in!

U miss the point here. I'm not saying that I WANT these planes made NOW. I think of it as an inspirational catalogue - and perhaps some day when the time is right a MOD'er would have the time and interest in building just 1 or 2 of the mentioned planes (and we would all be happy, clapping our hands!).
I don't want to overload the MOD'ers at all, of course. I think the MOD'ers are doing a hell of a job. But as I understand it, this forum is made for wishes and dreams and that's what I've done here, with my post - I can't help MOD'ing, sorry I simply doesn't have the skill and time for it, so I consider this my contribution to the great work (and hopefully, somebody will be able to use it)...

And yes, I can't find any posts mentioning any of the above mentioned planes (havent looked all discussion threads though), but cant find it in any WIP threads/posts...

Hi.

I've edited the first post, cause I found a link that I most have overseen (sorry):

And Handerson, do plz use legal picture links (I don't think the Luft archiv want Us to use their pictures)...

Was the He-280 used in active duty at all, or was it the same as with the Ta-154 (didn't go further than to testing)?

No, it remained a prototype and never saw operational use - it would have been the worlds first operational jet fighter had it done so.

Regarding german types, what about the Heinkel He115? The Folke-Wulf 187, a graceful twin engined zerstower that was tested on operations in Norway but not accepted for general service? The Dornier 24, a three engined flying boat doing those flying boat things. What about those mine clearance aircraft with huge magnetic rings? There's a few more I can't think of off-hand. Plenty for modders to work on. Think it might take a while though...

- asheshouse - 26.08.2008

Rather than giving a list of planes how about just promoting one type.
Then back the wish up with some detailed research including 3 view plan detailed photos, internal cockpit shots, performance data etc.

The amount of research required to model a single aircraft type is often overlooked, and whilst it is easy to source general photos, high quality detailed shots are often hard to come by.

- Chaoic16 - 26.08.2008

Can you post these requets at my thread for these axis aircraft, but follow my 4 steps for requesting at this link below:

viewtopic.php?t=7572 (historical)

viewtopic.php?t=7570 (experiment and 'what if' 1946s)

I am strongly encouraging everyone to use my thread for requesting while following my 3 steps where it would encourage any of you to post link to references/background/data, especially blueprint where it will be very useful for modders. its something community, at least, can do what modder truly need for us to do, its something we can do to help modders.

Thanks!

Wink

what I really miss is the Greif, the... - MrGoldfinger - 02.03.2009

Heinkel He 177. The german heavy Bomber is missed in our nice Il2-sim.
I have seen years ago some virtuell parts of this big bomber on the internet -
it was in development for il2 - but I never heard some news about this.

Now my question: Where is the Heinkel He 177 Greif? Can anybody help me?
With some good news about this project?

The He 177 was used at the western and eastfront and flew many missions against
industry in Britain and USSR, attack ships... Not a small number of this aircraft was
used at the bomberwings of the Luftwaffe, some examples KG 1, KG 4, KG 40, KG 100
and FKG 50 etc. This isn`t really not a small number.

I hope one dude our better a team is still working at this project.

Do not forget the He 177 A-5 Greif ... :!:

And the He 177 was not only a Luftwaffen-Feuerzeug a flying fireengine no no, later the He 177 A-3 and the much better version the A-5 was a very good bomber and crews was talking about his good flight perfomance, like "ausgezeichnete Wendigkeit" and much bombload...
