Question About painting Bombs - m4sherman14 - 24.08.2008
I am reskining the U.S bombs and I want to make it different skins appear randomly like on the FAB-1000 and the SC500. But I have yet been able to get the U.S bombs to do it. Does any one know how because I have had no luck the last 2 days

Don't think you can make them random if thats what your asking. But i haven't looked into the textures that much.

well if you fly the TB3 with FAB 1000's every so often one of the bombs will have writing on it

Here is an example of what I am trying to do with the US bombs
Here are Three Exact planes with the Same Bomb And look at the difference
Now I have been trying for two Days to duplicate this on the U.S bombs and have so far been un-sucsesful

Hey Sherman There are more then one TGA file for the German planes that why you see the writing on some and not the others. The U.S ordnance don't have that option I don't think. So if you want to put writing on the U.S. Bombs then you may have to just put on one skin, but that may mean that a formation of 2 or more planes may have the same bomb with same writing...sorry bud...
See Below: This is another problem..Words come out in reverse on other side...

well I have come to the conclusion that it has to be in the weapons file
because I have simulated the FAB-1000's and the SC-500's files exactly and still no love....But I think it has to do with the fact the U.S bombs have 2 ordnance files instead of one ordanance and one alhambra file

Sherman I have done the re-skinning of the axis bombs here....viewtopic.php?t=6214
I also checked the U.S. Ordnance and some only have a single TGA file. I'll have to check the others tonight, but being that the 500lber is the main stay of the U.S. planes I don't think you'll be able to achieve the look you want. I'm sorry my friend....

Well all the main U.S Bombs Exept for the 250 pounder use the same TGA originally . But you can make it to where they all use different ones.
Here Is what I have so far

I have another question. There are .tga files that are attached to these weapons. I use Photo Shop, but I still cant seem to open the files. What program do you use to open the .tga files?

You need the .tga converter provided on this site first.

Can you change the paint job on the drop tanks for US Navy planes? Once it is changed, does it have to remain so, or do you have to repaint it every time you change paint schemes for the planes? In other words, could the drop tank paint scheme be tied with the paint scheme of the plane it is put on?

@AIRdomination
Thanks that
