Increasing Flight Sizes - CKY_86 - 04.09.2008

Is it possible to increase the size of flights, for instance add options for 5, 6, 10, you get the picture.

I would have a crack at trying to do this myself but I don't know the first step in modding.

I apologise if there is already an existing topic on this.

Yeah This will be realy interesting to have ....Ability to get or rotte ,schwarm , staffel , gruppe...

About the freeze frame motion...i have made bomber formations of like 60 planes and its still playable... But an option like this will make it much more esier to make Big Grin.

It really depends on your system as to how many aircraft you can have on screen.

As to the flight sizes, im thinking along the lines of this (if it is possible to do keep in mind). Have the numbers from 4 running up to 10 (5 6 7 8 9 10), maybe have it go up in that style to 15 or 20. Then have the numbers go up in 2', 5', or 10's up to around 50.

im thinking it could possibly work a different way.

when i set up my big bomber missions, i set each A/C WP separately, meaning 1 set of waypoints for each individual bomber. this way i can get whatever formation i want. then i have to go and tweak speeds and such so the higher alt bombers dont overtake the lower alt bombers, and blah blah blah. thee hardest part, and one i havent mastered yet, is getting them to turn and hold formation

what im wondering is if there could be an outside program that you feed different parameters into, type, height, alt spread, speed, etc..., then it outputs the code and you can copy and paste it into your mission file. seems purely mathematical to me, but im sure theres more to it than that.

I tried a mission with a squadron of B17's - thats 16 bombers, with each flight having its own similar flightpath. To be honest, it looked the business, and since I was in the third B17 of the 2nd flight, I had a grandstand view of the formation. Perhaps it was spread a little wide historically speaking, but even then, turning home after the bomb run I saw one air to air collision. Seven out of sixteen planes made it home, two downed by enemy Fw190's before the escorts drove them off, the others by AA fire at three seperate locations. Believe me, if you don't get carried away with scale, the current situation is adequate for most purposes. Don't forget, in total you can have up to 128 aircraft on screen and thats not bad for a computer game.

Well Looking at the " bld_ru " file it shows the amount of planes and I tired to change the number to 8. But when I went into the game it still showed 4 planes. There has to be another file that you need to add other number of planes to to get it to show up in game....Still looking into it...

... the way i see it game will never load extra planes until "new" ones doesn't get defined which sound speech files/folders will they use .... among other things .... so some kind of properties or ini file must get edited also

just a thought ...
