I have NO idea about map modding hence the question:

I have noticed that different maps have different lighting.

As an example; the lighting in the Smolensk map always seems to give a nicer image than, say, the Italy map. This is using the same time of day, weather conditions etc. For this reason I usually use the Smolensk map to take screenshots for the skins I make as it really shows off natural metal finishes well as opposed to "washing them out" to a flat grey as some other maps do.

Is there a way to adjust the light on the maps other than the time of day option?

Is it possible to use the light settings for Smolensk on other maps?

If so, how?

I hope that makes sense.

Not sure but try copying the "month" and "declin" settings present in smolensk load.ini and paste them over the ones present in italy load.ini (for example). Ok, not sure if you're familiar with it so:
create a folder inside your il2 root directory:
mods/mapmods/maps/italy_df/
Now you need to place the italy load.ini inside this folder.

Below I paste the content of this load.ini. Copy the text and paste it into notepad. Save as "load.ini" inside mods/mapmods/maps/italy_df/

When i made a mission for the new Mossie to drop its flares at night, using the new NW france map...I found it wasn't dark enough, even at 11pm.... so i changed the month from 7 to 11 in the load.ini

You have to try different values for Ambient and Diffuse in Landlight.mat

Gives surprising results :wink:
