OpenGL Perfect Mode? - Dr. Strangelove - 16.09.2008

Hey guys!

Having a bit of an issue with getting my graphics to look better. I went into conf.ini and set the water to 3, and trees to 3, and all my video settings are at the highest. Then, no fancy water, no fancier trees, or clouds, or anything else noticeably different. Not even a longer loading time! Please help me get the graphics to the best quality. Thanks

You have to find this in your conf ini in OpenGL section:

Hardwareshaders=1

Ensure you have choosen OpenGL mode (not Directx) too. Perfect mode is not available with DX.

Regards.

Nvidia or ATI video card?

- Dr. Strangelove - 17.09.2008

Thanks for the help! I did what you said, Wilhelm, but there still was no fantastic or astounding difference. Just a huge lag when I fired at AA guns at low-level. So now I am back to DX. Besides, the only reason I want better graphics is for realistic water. Pacific CamPAINs, right?

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it" would apply for me in this case I guess.

As for the video card, I honestly have no clue. I'm running a decent eMachines computer. You've probably never heard of them, but they do well. I have a good enough video card to have medium quality graphics, I suppose.

Yes, I am very aware of eMachines and I am sorry, but with one of those you are not likely to get good graphics and good frame rates. eMachines uses low cost and low performance components, they are built cheap, sold cheap, and intended for surfing the web and playing Solitaire, but little else.

And, enable "Stencil Buffer" in graphic options.

Also a couple of other things I remember from my trials:

- Don't run IL-2 setup or else it will overwrite your conf.ini manual settings
- Once done editing your conf.ini, right click at set properties to 'Read Only' (this will keep it from getting over written by the program)
- Once you have settings that work for you and you really LIKE, strongly suggest you make a backup copy, just in case- and date it.

Good luck

Triad

One final thing, in the Nvidia control panel, make sure "Extension limit" is turned off.

Hello everyone,
I have the same issues as above. I think I have enough ram and processor (as on the box's recommended settings) I have openGl and the nvidea gforce. Stencil buffer is on. However, I cant enable the perfect setting for water. Any help is appreciated Smile

What i do to fix the problem is open the game, start flying, press escape and go into options, then go into video options and set the landscape to excellent, hit apply, change it back to perfect and hit apply again and it should be fixed, hope this helps
