Converting 409b sfs files to 408 - I/JG27_Waggel - 16.09.2008

It should be possible to extract the 409 files into the 408 version. You ... "only" ... :roll: ... have to write the path of the files into the "filelist.txt" of the SFS converter. I had some success with textures but i am not able to convert 409 objects.

It whould be nice to see those objects in 408, so maps like slovakia and the canon UK channel map can be used on dedicated servers. In the mean time there is no server patch for 409b so this methode is the only way to get such beautifull maps online.

I do not know the release of 409 (perhaps there never ever will be a release .. who knows)

Edit: With this methode you will not be able to bring 409 maps on a 408 dedicated server. There are much more things that have to be done. A intern link to an important discussion you can find here:

I made some very important progress. It is possible to transfer objects from 409 to 408. My first step its too transfer the objects of the Slovakei map. Later it will be possible to revise objects graphically for winter landscapes. After converting the 409 objects we can use them in 408. It will be possible to use the canon uk map or the slovakai map on a dedicated server.

A great help is the 409 static ini. I select the paths and add them into the filelist.txt of the SFS converter.

Example: In the static.ini i can find this text:

No need, there is a thread about a file that tells the game which sfs files to load for a specific version.

it was called "4.09 maps compatibility" I think.

We can switch to different game versions but we cant fly slovakia map online for example because there is no 409 server patch. We only have 408 server patch. So the trick is to convert all 409 data out of the sfs files and put them into your mod folder. You are able to use this map in 408.

Next thing: You have the objects of 409 and you can make winter skins. So it is possible to make a slovakia winter map etc.

All servers are running with 408 because there is no server patch for 409b. And on 408 you cant bring slovakia online until now.


I want to extract the data and make it possible to fly 409 maps on a dedicated server.

Uh no... with the file I was talking about in my previous post, you load the game as 4.08, but you have access to all the content from 4.09.
