Suggestion: Sound and visual effects related to g-forces - roger-wilco-66 - 25.09.2008

I remember playing ww2-fighters many years ago. There were two sound-effects, which were IMHO a great addition to the immersion:

- under applied g-forces the sound started to fade away, or it sounded like the low and middle frequencies of the sound were gradually surpressed, the more g's were pulled. That is quite realistic as far as my own real-world experiences with aerobatics go.

- you heard noises the stressed airframe made: cracks and squeaking

Another effect concerns the fade-out. My RL fadeouts always were connected to grey outs and sparkles, like when your blood pressure is low and you stand up quickly. Thats almost the same effect.

Whats your opinion on that, expecially the sound suggestions? Would that be possible to modifiy or add? I guess there is already a model for that in the simulation, since black-outs are visually generated.

Cheers,
Mark

I'm already on it, mate...

Atm, I have spend a big amount of hours in a friends sound studio.

We're have research for high quality sounds, so it is in progress.

I don't know, how many time we need to finish, 'couse it's difficult to get original sounds.

Only thing I can say, please be patient... it is worth Big Grin

I give a shout, if we can present something.

Later...

Great, thanks for your efforts!

Hi roger-wilco-66 and renmik

This "sounds" good. Very good idea :-)

In course of revisioning the engine noises the other important sounds went a little bit into the background. Like roger-wilco-66 said, a pilot can feel the g-forces in different ways. In the simulation some improvements could be done.

+10

...it would be real immersion booster IMHO , fantastic idea

+10 from me, too

What is the status of this mod? Is it still under construction? I think it is a great idea and an effect I miss from the old Janes WWII Fighters.

Great idea guys Smile

Fantastic!!!!! My six-year-old son sometimes plays that Jane's WWII fighters and it's really immersive to hear the plane cracking when you begin to loose vision and you hear the pilot's heart beating hard.
