Error Message in New Maps - agracier - 28.09.2008

I have downloaded several maps from here and they are more than wonderful.

But some won't work no matter what i do or what set of instructions I follow, and believe me I've been ferreting around here and tried all kinds things.

For several maps I keep getting the same error message such as the following:

World.land.()Loadmap() error: java.lang RuntimeException: Landscape 'dlv_Sinai/load.ini' loading error

What in the world does that mean?

I've checked my maps/all.ini file umpteen times and all required lines are present pertaining to maps that won't work.

I am stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you got the dlv_Sinai map installed? (The most obvious Q!)

- ArcticViper - 28.09.2008

4.09b1 is the correct answer to this question...

Sinai installation - delvpier - 28.09.2008

Error message most of the time related to wrong path for textures or textures not present...

So check first :

1/ Textures have to be installed in maps\_Tex\land\summer\dlv_Sinai

2/ check path for textures in load.ini according to above

3/ made for 4.091

Why does a map refuse to open in FMB ... and gives the error "[MAP 2D] not found in map/load.ini"

yet when checking ..everything seems correct.... and other people have no problem with it :?

I too have this error - Flying H - 29.09.2008

with LAL_crimea all 4, fly_z_d_load.ini, normA_load.ini, norway/fly_z_W_load.ini and a few more!? Most maps load flawlessly, though!

please gents , who ever have error with loading maps :

go to FMB, open console (shift+tab) when error occurs and read exactly what is causing it

it's the only way to know for sure

but it

Thanks for all the suggestions, but it's still no go. It's odd and frustrating since just today I installed the new Slovenia map and it worked like a charm first time. Most new maps I've downloaded here work fine in fact, except for a few : sinai, eastafrica, phillipines, hokkaido, spain.

Naturally they reach record proportions of desirability when they won't work. It's not that there aren't enough other maps, there are. But it's the thing that what works for one should work for all maps, just doesn't go ...

But whatever ... thanks for the suggestions nonetheless.

Well it looks like - Flying H - 30.09.2008

I have a lot of textures missing in the _Tex folder. No /land/summer/Pacific/*, no forest/summer/forestmask, no LowLand2 = land/summer/autumnFIELDS2.tga and more!? Where have these files gone? where they not in the .exe files downloaded?
I have the LAL_crimea v2.exe wasn

- fabianfred - 30.09.2008

the _Tex and MAPMOD/maps folders will only contain data which has been altered from the default

if only default textures have been used then the game will look for them in the usual place (the unopened sfs files)
