Burning Ships.... - Billfish - 04.10.2008

As larger ships take on damage, we currently get a progressively larger amount of smoke and damage seen. I'm wondering would those who make mods be willing/able to also add fire to some of the higher levels of damage. Naturally some increased smoke then what we currently have would be nice too as really we get little compared to real life.

One of the neat aspects though would be, is how ships currently "self repair" over time if not sunk. So in the case of a ship burning as well as smoking, as that diminished it would grant the illusion that fires were being brought under control and repairs being made.

In the default game most ships only start to smoke when they are almost damaged enough to sink.

With FC's extended ship sinking times the ships now take much longer to submerge after sustaining enough damage to sink them...so we get to see them still in the water and smoking for much longer than before, when they seemed to go under in the twinkling of an eye.

My mod which made the small manned AAA guns easier to destroy by nearby explosions from bombs or rockets or torpedoes, and direct hits from cannon and MG fire, causes them to emit flames which then changes to smoke which can be seen for quite a long time before it stops.... this is well before the hull has sustained enough damage to sink the ship

It all requires careful tweaking in the technics.ini

FC was also working on more smoke for damaged ships...but that seems to have been forgotten now
