How do you edit default map textures? - Jaypack44 - 04.10.2008

Hi all, I'm thinking about trying my hand at making some ground textures, but I have some questions: First, where can the default texture files be found? second, how do I make them tileable? and third, I have heard some things about textures needing a bumpmap or alpha channel. what exactly is this, and how does it work?

For getting most of textures extract with SFS extractor all maps.sfs into some folder. After that you'll see in that folder a folder called _Tex navigate inside and see what you get.
For viewing and converting the textures to tga format which is readable by conventional image programs use Dr Jones tga converter

(The link is inoperative)

For some discussions maybe try a search for "tgb" and "bumph" and "tga" on this forum...
Maybe people which did skin the ground a bit could help too :?:
