Spitfire MkVc ETO - RealDarko - 07.10.2008
The MkVc version was used in Europe too, so we should have a Vc version without the Sand filter, main difference between MkVb is the cannon ammo.
Possible to have??

actually in terms of the actual guns installed in most Vcs there was no difference in armament between the b and c models. the C type wing was meant as a universal wing that could have different amament types installed (8xmgs, 2xcannon and 4xmgs, or 4xcannons). but by far the most common installment of armament in any C type of spitfire from the V to the XIV was the 2xhispano and 4x mg versions because it was the most versatile. which, even though everyone seems to forget this or just hasn't noticed for some odd reason, we DO have the Vc in the game with the standard 2xhispano and 4xmg armament that would be just fine in my opinion for fitting with the in game Vb nose and a new slot for the ETO theater. sorry if i'm off on everyone elses assumptions about the in game versions and their armament but it seems like every time this issue has come up there's been someone trying to shout it down because of the 4x cannon armament when that isn't the only Vc we have in game. and i know it won't be just as simple as switching the noses but it certainly doesn't seem to be as impossible or as bad an idea as everyone seems to think it is whenever this issue crops up (the recent Seafire mod comes to mind here, i remember someone requesting this when that mod was first in development and the mod maker said it was unconsiderable because of the 4cannon armament and i remember thinking, uhh...you know if you scroll up or down one in the plane list low and behold there is one without the 4 cannons). just my two cents on the matter.

I think RealDarko was referring to different number of rpg's on the Hispano's:
Vb: 60 rpg
Vc: 120 rpg
- RealDarko - 08.10.2008
Yes, I'm refering to the different number of ammo for the canons. I know we have a correct MKVc, but it have that huge filter, so one without it will be very very cool
- SparrowThree - 08.10.2008
Agreed! It would be great to have a Mk. Vc with no Vokes filter.
- grppaperboy - 08.10.2008
ahhh okay, that clears it up then, sorry for jumping to conclusions on you a sec there darko, was more referring to others anyway and was a bit tired so went off on a rant there a bit *is humbled* but yes there are lots of things like the Vc without the Vokes that i think would be great additions to the game with much less work than some of these other projects of building whole new planes (like the whirlwind and lancaster projects, though i am tickled as any to see these projects come through). i know they're not nearly as flashy or exciting as brand new planes, but can help round out the playing field nicely and could help sort of keep the masses contented while the harder work is done on the other projects. mainly in the forms of projects that just require keeping a current model and giving it a new slot with altered FM/DM/WM changes (like the P-47 and P-51 new slot ac's i saw were being worked on a while ago and have sort of fallen off the map). good new additions would be ones like making perhaps new slot versions of some of the numerous 109 visual mods that were out, like making a dedicated new slot G-4 which was used a lot by the smaller axis air forces such as romania and the slovak and kroat units serving in the Luftwaffe. Also some of the Hawk 75 variants i recently saw proposed here would be good. another interesting thing i read recently in one of the excellent Osprey Aviation Elite series was that finland's B-239s were sometimes fitted with engines from I-153s later in the war. need to do a bit more reading in the book to confirm this, happened to catch it as i was flipping through it at a book store so i'll have to go back and find it again, but would be interesting to see more what effect that would have on performance and how common a modification it was.

A late war Spitfire Vc with the Mk IX style exhaust manifolds would be pretty cool. Definitely one for the list.
- AIRdomination - 08.10.2008
Not that I am against doing this... but i REALLY think that we have enough spitfires for now. I'd put some of the other aircraft up first before doing another spit. With spitfires and Seafires already we have 24 of them.. not counting the XIV that is in the works.

Nope, we won't have enough Spitfires until all the marks and sub-variants have been covered. The same for any other aircraft.

Amen GBrutus!

Agreed. But my entire point was that we have more spitfires than anything else right now. And I simply think that other aircraft should receive more attention at the moment.

Sure, I see your point. Then if you haven't already done so, you should start a discussion to help gather interest in the aircraft you think deserve attention. Otherwise they may never see the light of day.
