Ultimate Challange - snaphance - 09.10.2008

I am here to throw down the gauntlet of challange before the modders on this site. If any of you should prove brave enough to accept this challange, you need only post your acceptance below.

This will not be an easy task, it will require stamina, endurance, patience, ingenuity, and creativity. The model for the game need not be perfect, but should be as close to perfection as is possible.

So those who dare, take up this challange: The S

- Spanky - 09.10.2008

never flew

- RAF_Leigh - 09.10.2008

well i see it as

if it never flew it would never be made

- _-JARMOPOWER-_ - 09.10.2008

There's lerche, never flew, so why not this?

My friends whom have experiences with aerodynamics are working with me on developing theories on how we can get best 'predicted' flight model for prototypes and 'what if planes' for IL-2 at (The link is inoperative).

However, for now the modders are too busy learning and expanding the abilities to mod the IL-2 engine further. So for now, it is best to take small steps a time. So for now, it is not good time to ask something so difficult because we are still learning more about modding IL-2 itself UNTIL we finally develop a best method of finding predicted flight model for 'what if' and experimental aircraft. And that is when we can start a serious discussion on these aircraft.

So instead of asking for 'what if' planes that have not flown yet, it would be best to start discussing about how we can find best method on developing 'predicted flight model in most accurate way. These is KEY to these add-on aircraft. For more information on my theories, go to this thread at:

NO. Sorry, I am a great fan of this plane but no.

Il-2 does NOT support proper supersonic FM and flying at high altitude looks rediculous... sorry mate...

- Carnagexxx - 10.10.2008

Will there ever be a mod to make the behavior of the planes in great hights realistic as they should ?
or is this a FM change and so forbidden ?

- snaphance - 10.10.2008

I don't really care about the supersonic part, or the rediculous altitude part. Just get this thing up to B-29 altitude, and give it a speed similar to the 262HG. That's why I said it doesn't have to be perfect.

I certainly wouldn't want my game polluted by more of this sci-fi, nazi sketchpad garbage.

snaphance,

Here is an advice for you, if you want more practical 'what if planes', instead of selecting planes that goes up to edge of earth's atompshere at hyper speed. How about finding other planes, you can find so many of practical 'what if' planes in my 'experimental and what if' aircraft requests library list. You could either find more reference information for one of aircraft in the list or find next aircraft project for request with reference information.

It had to be aircraft that doesn't go beyond machs and so high above 50,000 ft high or higher for practical aircraft.

Just because you hate 'what if planes' doesnt' mean we should not make it. I am very glad when Slow began project on Li P-13a. There will be one day when more 'experimental' and 'what if' planes wil be roaming through IL-2 sky with best, most accurate 'predicted' FM we can get somewhere in future.

Wink

Chaoic, I agree with everything you have been doing which is related to experimental and 'what if' aircraft. They seem to be very interesting and it would be fun to imagine how flying them would be. And for people who disagree, this IL-2 simulator is the perfect way to learn and see how these "what if" may have flown. It is the perfect opportunity in the most realistic way.

Thank you, I am very glad to see more of 'open-minded' people whom can see why experimental and 'what if' warplane would be our oppunrity to learn something new from it, a unique lesson that not every single of us would of learned without going through it. This can happen if we apporach 'experimental and 'what if' planes in most realistic way as possible.

Smile

From what seams to be, IL2 runs on known aerodynamic variables for a given plane hence its not the proper aerodynamic simulator for what-if airplanes with unknown variables, but yes its the proper airplane simulator.

So hold your horses and be patient (i know its dificult), airplanes will come.

PS: I got 2 words for you to google: Reynold numbers.
