Unified installer. Loving it, so what's the future for it? - Mysticpuma - 10.10.2008

I think that having the unified installer was the best idea/development from the AAA community, and has brought the art of modding IL2, to a much greater audience. So firstly, a great big thanks to all those involved.

Now, the question posted above is what does the future of the installer look like?

Will future updates be done by two systems?

So that those who have the unified installer version 1.0, will only needs to download an update .exe, and those who want a complete fresh version can download Unified Installer Version 1.1 ?

I'm wondering too what sort of timescale there may be between updates, as so many new maps are being released along with version 1.1,1.2,1.3 etc, etc of various Mods.

So my question really is when will we see updates to the Unified installer, and how are they being chosen?

Either way I'll download them as they have addd so much to the game, but I'd love to know what the future install process holds?

Cheers, MP.

Excellent question for an excellent mod package. I'll be patiently waiting for an answer to this myself.

One thing I would like to add - or maybe emphasize - is to please include version numbers for all included mods, maps, etc. in the readme (as has already been stated by Mysticpuma).

For example. The Slot has been upgraded with version 1.2. Mrz_Malta is now at 1.3 (1.31 if you include the FPS fix). Maven's weapon hit effects have been updated to version 1.2 - and many others have also been upgraded as well.

Since I (and others) can only assume which versions most (some have been mentioned with version numbers) of the different components - within the UI package - were implemented, it could help alleviate some of the problems that people have with manually upgrading those different components (or accidentally downgrading to be more specific).

As to the Unified Installer itself, I have only praise for the quality of your combined work here at AAA and the undying dedication of the community to a product that has given us so much enjoyment these last years. Keep up the good work and don't forget to check six.

Regards,

Gromic

It is like the battlestar galactica. This commuity is a battlestar searchig for a new home. We mosty can do anythig:

- Creat new maps

- Creat new objects

- Creat new planes

The only thing we need is a dedi server system that makes it possible to fly on a 24/7 server with new maps, objects and planes.

In the long run we should force our energy to get this last big dream to become real.
