Completely Off Topic Image Question? - Shooter - 30.10.2008
Hey chaps,
Anyone know of a secure image host that will display uploaded Images but any copy functions are disabled? Reason I ask is I need to upload copies of qualifications C&Gs and the like for access by prospective employers for my job in the real world, but I dont want to display Hi res Images of my City & Guilds Certificates for instance which can be copied/ downloaded and illegally altered by Fake Document Trawlers?
Can an image be displayed on the web without some way of copying it? I know when Ive tried to right click and copy profiles on some sites, the right click has been disabled etc, but I got round it by just taking a hi res shot of the entire page with 'Snag it' (Snag It' may I add is the doggies danglers in website & image capture, for anyone interested
) Fraps I find only functions properly when games are activated
Anyone have any Ideas other than my printing across the Images 'COPY' in Brite Red with the opacity backed off a touch?
Regards

A quick Googling of "secure image hosting" gave quite a few pay sites that will host images securely. It appears they simply have them in a hidden folder accessible only by a secure link they give.
For the same price or less you could get your own domain and webspace and do the same thing (as far as storing/sharing your digital images securely * ), plus have the ability to do everything else ... web site(s), sub-domains, email accounts, etc., etc.
If you had your own domain, you could also place the images in a folder that requires a username/password to access. Give that info to your prospective viewers, and change the login info as often as required.
* Googled link to a secure image script to use on a website of your own:
LINK ((no idea if it works or is actually secure however))

Why don't you upload the image compressed in RAR format with password in? There are a lot of filehosting servers in the Net. Free.
The password avoid the acces. You have only to give the pass to the ppl who need it.
The webs without "right click and copy" option aren't secure. I can copy whatever image in the Net. Without using the secondary mouse button.
Regards.

Prospective employers would probably appreciate the security problems involved in displaying scans of your qualifications on the net, could you instead describe where you gained it, the name of the qualification and the date of the award? Like this:
01/01/2001.. The college/institute you were attending.. C&G (Cambridge) Applied Engineering Level II
If they already know your name they could easily verify your qualifications if you give them this info too

Hi chaps,
Cheers for the input here some good pointers ..
@PDelaney : Yes mate, good idea, I never thought of that to be honest, I was thinking purely on a see them & 'bobs your uncle' so to speak and at least it gets you through the 'toothcomb' in 1 easy step... I will put your suggestion into practice, although I still feel it would be a much easier process if employers could see them prior to any interview without having to go through the process of contacting any issueing bodies? What say you?
@Sandman & 'WH' & Leigh: Good Ideas & suggestions as to where to go & what to consider, I did do a quick Google of my requirements myself but as usual with google, it tends to bring you a heap of stuff & I get lost like a kid in a Candy shop
I think, as has been suggested, that a compressed passworded file may be the way to go as far getting images securely to anyone with the need to see them...Thx Gents
Thankyou gentlemen for taking the time to respond and help with this particular subject, you've been a great help,I hadnt thought of any of the suggestions made here.. and all of them together will actually cure my problem.... thx again
Best Regards
