My God, what have I done?? Please Help! - vongreim - 01.11.2008

Hi, I was given your sound mod via link and unzipped it and as per instruction, replaced the folder in the zip file with the installed file "Il-2 1946". This took about 90 min.

The name of the file is: il2_v4.08_mods_megapack_v1.0

Now I get a new startup screen BUT at 5% and it crashes!

Please I just want my Il-2 1946 to work again. I have a add on campaign "Operation Blau" installed and am about 120 missions deep, with 200+ kills and its would destroy me to have to start over.

Can anyone help me? I have Windows Vista and I have already changed the icon to run "as Administrator.

I would love to hear of any ideas SHORT of deleting everything and starting over from scratch. I would just toss the game and focus on others then.

regards
Jan

I did the same thing. Reinstalling 4.09 fixed it. (I used the unified installer, don't know if the patch would work too)

Edit: Wait, did you install it over a 4.08 install or 4.09? If you had 4.08 then nevermind what I just said, unless that is in fact what you need to do to fix it.

hi! - vongreim - 01.11.2008

I installed the DVD game Il-1946 and then the add on "Operation Blau" and then the 4.08 mod that I listed in the orignal post.

will 4.09 fix it you think?

THANKS!!!!

HI

basically, your fall blau missions should still be saved.

copy your 'missions' folder

install a new clean il2 1946 & then replace the 'missions' folder.

This should solve youyr issue. The mods would be lost.

I also reccomend that you pass the skins & users folders, it will save you having to remap your stuff.

My advice is to have a clean version & a modded version of the game, that way if it all becomes messed up because of a bad install, you always have the clean version there.

thats all i can offer, sorry.

Did you instal 4.08 before modding the game?
