hi. Here is my problem. I had a working version of the game. then m friends told me about the new unified installer. so i uninstalled the game and did a fresh clean install from the DVD. fresh patch to 4.08m and then did the unified installer, in that order. so now the game will start up but only goes to 20% and stops. it freezes my computer to the point that i have to do a hard reboot. can anyone tell what they think the problem is and how to fix it? i have unistalled and reinstalled multiple time. only possibility i can think of now is maybe registry issues? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

When you uninstalled the game,did you go into program files and remove the game folder that's left in there even after you uninstall? If you haven't give it a try there might be a corrupted file left over in that folder. Try removing that game folder from program files and reinstalling.
