There are various installation guides on the site if you do a search but since I have recently done a clean install of the mods here is what I have done.
Start with a working unmodded installation patched to 4.08
1. Install mod activator 5.2 MOD_Activator_v5_2_IL2_4_08.exe (The link is inoperative)
This is without the new sounds.
2. Install new wrapper wrapper.exe (The link is inoperative)
3. Install English Career Language fix English_Career_Language_Fix.rar (The link is inoperative)
4. Install Aircraft Installer 2.8 AC_INSTALLER_v2_8.exe (The link is inoperative) Check for updates and install the latest version.
This gives you the 4.08 modded version.
5. Install 4.09 modded version 409_MOD_b1m.exe (The link is inoperative)
This gives you the 4.09 modded version.
Of course its much easier to use the unified installer rather than installing these separately.
If you use the Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler (JGME)
viewtopic.php?p=113387#113387
Then you can create just two available mods by installing all of items 1 to 4 into one folder in the JGME XODS folder (1-408_mod) and installing item 5 into a second folder (2-409_mod)
Now you just activate 1-408_mod for the 4.08 version and activate both 1-408_mod and 2-409_mod for the 4.09 version.
As you might gather I am a bit of a fan of JGME, but most prefer to use the official AAA Mod Switcher.

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I have just installed this Unified Installer on my new PC on a new ... well, you get the picture. So I will try again with the links you gave. If not, I will be forced to do a complete install on one of my machines.
Cheers.
