Mat Manager Problem - March_Hare009 - 15.11.2008

Hi All,

I have just downloaded and installed IL2 Mat Manager, but when I go to run the program it tells me I need to specify a path to the executable in my IL2 folder. When I do this, however, the program does not seem to recognize it and won't let me into the program (Mat Manager) to make any changes. It also gets stuck in a kind of loop and will not shut down, so I have to do a CTRL+ALT+DEL. I'm I pathing to the wrong folder? My IL2 folder is on my D: drive, but the Mat Manager is on my C: drive. Do they need to be on the same drive, or do I need to install the Mat Manager program IN my IL2 folder? Any help or ideas on this issue are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

if you have IL21946, or the series collection, or forgotten battles, find the file (in the il2 sturmovik folder) il2fb.exe copy it, and rename the copied item to il2.exe ( .exe being the file type) so you now have one of each.

this solves on of your problems, but having solved this one, i still couldn't get mat manager to work, but it means i have at least specified a path to the exectuable that mat manager uses to work (which is the il2.exe file. However, your game needs il2fb.exe to run, hence you need both).

Hi Moggy,

I finally did get it to work. I did what you suggested, and as you said, it got the path specified but did not completely solve my problem. After some more digging around I found out that you have to add the line "ClearCache=0" to the end of the [game] section in your config file. I also found out that there are a couple of buttons in the mibble of the MM interface that are important--Save and Quit. After you make the changes you want, you of course must hit the save button  . Then you must exit MM by hitting the quit button. Before I found these buttons (the MM interface is rather crowded and confusing IMHO) I was just clicking the "x" in the top-right corner of the window, which apparently is not the thing to do with MM. Thanks for the help, and I hope this will help you get yours running properly.

You didn't launch it directly from Mat manager? cos there's a launch button too. Maybe that's what i was doing wrong! I had the clearcache thingy, i forgot to mention that, still, you found it anyhow.

Thanks for your help!
