Skinmod default skins - Plantoid 1 - 21.11.2008

Hi all:

I use the Corsair MkI as the F4U-1 in the Slot. During late '43 through early '44 there was a transition period for paint schemes and the USN came down with a field applied scheme that just painted non-specular sea blue on the top surfaces right over the light blue that came from the factory. This was also the time of insignia changes from the Star-in-Circle to Star and Bars. As the individual units had control over the painting there was a certain lack of standards. I've got pictures of planes over there that show as many as three different paint jobs in the same unit.

So...

I have vpmedia's Skin Mod and have replaced a goodly number of skins on planes and was wondering how to get multiple skins for the same plane. I checked the Skinmod folder and noticed that some planes have the suffix (Multi1) and some planes have (Multi1) plus say, (USA) or (Finnish) or (JA). Some planes have a file that has no suffix plus, next to that, a file with one of the other suffixes. There are three folders for the Bf-109G-2: 'bf-109g-2'; 'Bf-109G-2(fi)'; and 'Bf-109G-2(sk)'. Note the font case and the fact there is no 'Multi1' suffix folder.

The Corsair MkI only has a folder marked 'CorairMkI(Multi)'. I played around and found I could add a folder with the suffix (GB) and now have access to two paint schemes. I've tried adding more folders with suffixes (USA), (France), (PL), and (RU), but none of these work. When I place a stationary plane on the ground using one of those countries, the paint reverts to default British no matter what I put in there. There seems to be a limit on the number of folders that can be used for this plane.

Can anyone help here?

Great days all.

These other planes are different planes, actually, a copy of the original plane in a hidden slot, being selected by choosing the country it belongs to.

Great days all.

This is the case for ALL planes. Each plane has a parent country, and then a multi slot for other countries. The best you are going to be able to do is one paint scheme.

The only way to have multiple skins within a squadron is to assign each plane a specific skin in the FMB. Sadly, this will not work for offline campaigns (DCG, DGen) but will work for single missions or static campaigns.

I have an issue with the skinmod whereby I can give an aircraft a multi skin, but not a country specific one (specifically with the B17 and Mossie, mabey with more too).

Only certain planes have country specific schemes. Most of the ones that do are either British or American, and only have country specific defaults for their parent countries. There are a few exceptions to this, but the B-17 and Mosquito only have multi and parent country defaults (as far as I know).
