Freddy's BF cockpit workaround? -
DoktorWho - 21.11.2008
This is a part 2 of the first post about the disembodied gunsight in Freddy's cockpit of the Bf 109E. Many thanks to AIRdomination for the explanation. However, is there a work around. Some campaigns (2 I know) conflict with Freddy's cockpits. (1) Is there a way to alter/remove just Freddy's cockpits and still have the unified installer work? For example, a BF109E campaign conflicts (disembodied gunsight of left side window) with Freddy's - but a certain mod map is required. (2) Don't run the installer, able to load the plane, but no campaign because the map requires mods. So unified installer and plane doesn't work. No installer, plane works but no load because no mod map? There must be a workaround this? DW

Just go to your C:\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\Cockpits BF 109 Mod and rename the folder
-Cockpits BF 109 Mod.
Then when you want it back just remove the minus symbol again
Hope this answered your question.

As far as I know, my cockpit mod doesn't conflict with any maps, or campaigns, or any extra maps that you get to download...the new maps are just extras you can make missions on, reason why they may not work is if you downloaded a campaign but you don't have the map they wrote it on.... you can get it maps downloads...
but as for the 109 cockpits, try to check the thread about it in cockpit skins section of the forum of BF-109 cockpits by Freddy. Who knows, maybe you'll find something.
As I said earlier, I am not a user of the UI. I have soundmod 9.3 and downloaded the rest of my mods individually. It may have taken longer, but if you ever have a problem, its easier to isolate it, and get rid of it.
If that doesn't work, you could remove the mod temproarily like Boomer suggested. But I would use that as a last resort.
I hope you find what you're looking for, mate. This is all that I know unfortunatly.
Cheers
Many thanks -

To Boomer & AIRdomination. Both of you have been great - will follow up your suggetions. It really seems a terrible shame that the installer locks-you-in to this or that campaign or without it locks-you-in, etc. Campaign builders put in massive amounts of work, reskinners put in a massive amounts of work and still conflicts to be resolved remain which dilutes the effectiveness and glory of both. And I so admire the builders and repainters/skinners and just shake my head in admiration when I see the quality of their work. Seems just a terrible shame that, in an effort to make something work, exceptional work is so compromised. Thank you again. DW
