A question about the 'sky' in IL-1946 - FA_Cain - 24.11.2008

Can the deep blue bowl effect be changed to a more realistic color?

Many of us have been at altitudes above 30,000 feet and higher. The sky does not look like it is portrayed in '46'. It is just not that dark blue.

yep, thats true, the sky in high alt is too dark in daytime

There's been more than a few posts about this.

Seems that the sky colour above 6000m is hard coded.

If anyone can find where it should'nt be too hard to change; the hard part is finding where.
IMO it needs shifting towards cyan in the spectrum.

Yes, hard-coded...
Just as the default skins, I'm afraid to believe...

Well, the brilliant people around here have accomplished unfathomable feats, so, I think it is all a matter of some smart people working toward the goal...

And, yes, obviously I do agree with you folks :wink: . Perhaps for altitudes way up near the exosphere, but definitely not at 25,000ft. The exosphere is real, guys, right? Hmm...

If ever the sky code is found, I'd love it if night flying could have a deep black sky with high resolution star maps. Deep black sky with Milky way star map, which at High Altitude would be pretty impressive with less atmospheric haze to dull it down.

Here's hoping, cheers, MP.

.... no milky way ATM i'm afraid, but you can get deep dark night ( with only a moon ) by altering load.ini for desired map :

[WORLDPOS]
CAMOUFLAGE = WINTER
MONTH=7
DECLIN = 0
PRESSURE = 745
TEMPERATURE = 25

it's not much but at least you don't have that arctic light present at night anymore
