Mr Jolly - Please adopt the root/MODS/STD folder for the UI - asheshouse - 27.11.2008

In the MapMods section it was agreed some time ago to have a folder root/MODS/STD for common files.
This was brought about due to static.ini clashes between different object mods.
The inclusion of the Static_AC mod in the recent UI is causing problems to many people because it creates duplicate copies of *.ini files.

In my installation STD contains the following folders

com ---- containing subfolders for *.ini (air.ini, chief.ini, ships.ini, static.ini, stationary.ini, technics.ini)
gui --- containing subfolders for background and buttons files
i18n --- containing *.properties

and also (less importantly)

presets
samples

If the STD became the standard folder for these items then mod management will become much easier for many IMOH. At present there seems to be many cases of users, particularly new users, being completely baffled with CTD problems caused by duplicate copies of files being installed.

I was just looking - Osudog - 27.11.2008

At the ini structure in Il2 with a search of my Modded game and was quite surprised to see just how many ini files are in the game and how it would be a mess if you got an old static ini in from a download it is a game unlike any I have ever worked with but thanks to all of you here at AAA it is starting to get a bit more understandable as to how it all works and all I can say it THANKS

Yes, +100,000

I have had to re install all the mods THREE times now because of conflicts and not being able to un-fubar up my game. It takes time and is annoying to do.

Can we please have everything use the same folder and just use winmerge ourselves to add mods?
