Treelines - fruitbat - 01.12.2008
Hi, i finally got around to downloading Compans excelent textures to use on cannons map, and am very impressed, and on noticing that there are no treeline files, thought i'd give it a bash, however although i got this fairly quickly
it doesn't work.
In an effort to find out why, i used the treeline from the other bob textures, first renamed on top of compans textures which worked fine, and then i edited it to look like this as a test
Which does indeed still work in the game, so why dosen't this work,
As i can't see whats different about the files?
Any ideas :?:

ok, while there still a W.I.P, i'm fairly happy with how they look now, although tweeking to be done,
you can get them here
http://files.filefront.com/Compans+Engl ... einfo.html
http://files.filefront.com/Compans+BoB+ ... einfo.html

just place them in
....\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\_tex\land\summer
I intend to make treeline files for all of compans textures, will add them as and when.

Looks great, keep up the good work.

pity about Filefront

You're getting problems with coastlines because game puts water "over" your ground textures. Put different texture under location of the water, say, same texture but without trees file. I hope you know what i mean
It looks awesome but it just kills my framerate :\

just place them in

the same place compans textures went, and set forest to 2 or 3 in your config. (i think, i use 3, not 100%sure about 2, but i think its ok)
thats it, the game does the rest.
Now i've got my new computer up and running, i will go back and try to finish the village andd town textures, but had a few problems with them before.
french fields and others are available in this thread,

from page 6 onwards, with screenshots.

Thanks, but how do you move the pictures? Please pardon my ignorance.
Let me phrase it this way:
After I download the file, I get a window asking me what program to open it with. What should I choose?
- fruitbat - 07.01.2009
You don't need to open them, just ignore and cancel that. To move files, just right click on the file icon, wherever you saved it to, and then either click on cut or copy (cut moves, copy makes a copy), and then navigate to the folder i mentioned above, then right click again, and paste, job done

Fruitbat, I'm messing around with the Stalingrad map and want to use your treelines with Compans' textures. How do I write the line in the load.ini to superimpose the treeline over the texture?
Thanks in advance.
- fruitbat - 12.01.2009
Dont need to edit anything. Just put the treeline file in the same folder as the textures, and as long as it is named correct, ie ***.tga for the texture, treeline file is ***.tree.tga, the game will pick it up
