Missing B-29 - RAF_Leigh - 09.12.2008

hi all

ive just had this problem

im in a server and it will let me select any plane i want but if i want to pick the B-29 it wont let me

it will go to the briefing page then i press fly and my game freezes i leave it for a while and no go


if anyone can help thanks

try checking that you have followed all the install instructions to the letter, especially if you have installed the new 29 pit.

Hi Leigh!

I understand u have no mods but the bare 4.08 IL2 sim. Everyone has the problem with frozen controls of AI planes in dogfight servers but the cure for it is simple.

Without mods, the B29 allows you fly with ext view only, because it is an 'AI' plane which means that it is an unfinished plane that has not been given a cocpit by the original IL2 sim makers. When selecting a B29 or any other AI plane as the first plane in a dogfight server, their controls are frozen.

There is an obligatory trick one has to do when flying any AI plane without 'aftermarket' mods: Select first any standard plane and hit 'fly'. Only after that take an AI plane. Now the controls of the AI plane will start work.


Total freeze?

This was the fix to the most common trouble of frozen AI plane controls. If you already know this cure and your IL2 still freezes totally with certain planes, you may have some deeper hardware or game setting problem.

This may be a harder case to solve. For example, my PC usually froze when flying a Ju88. After a lot of experimenting with settings I found that switching from OpenGL to DirectX solved the Ju88 freeze.

These may be very hardware dependent problems, however, and a cure in one computer may not work in another.

i pick the B-29 in arming

set everything

press ok or back

hit fly

now when i hit fly IL2 Freezes and i have to end the process and i dont no why its doing it

ive checked everything from the Actual b-29 folder to the cockpit

Have you tried reinstalling the B-29 Leigh?

You haven't tried Ranwers cockpit I take it...? Also, does the Silverplate still load ok?

yer magpie

i just re installed it again

all good

but as soon as i try and switch gunners it crashes

i got to the bombardiers section then no further

could it be cos when i tried with the sliver plate

and i dont think ive got the gunners bit back
