Online ratings removal ? - Saburo Sakai - 10.12.2008

Is it at all possible that the online ratings can be stopped?
this would be very good for clan based campaigns where realism is key, ie not knowing who is in what plane and how many are in the air at a given time.

You mean that list that appears when you press "S"?
Yes, I would not at all object to the removal of this. Might encourage a little more teamwork, too.

+1

Even if all that was done was to have a host/server operated switch to display -or not- the type aircraft each player was in. I don't mind seeing the "red/blue" colors of the players, but showing the aircraft type each player is flying can be -and often is- an indication of what the opposing side is up to.

I fly occasionally in Forgotten Skies and I see this happening quite often... Red side will see x number Blue players in bombers, so Red adjusts it's defenses by having more fighters stay close to areas the enemy may attempt to strike with it's manned bombers. By removing the plane type in the "S" key display more 'operational security' for each side can be employed.

i thinlk just a button to get rid of it altogether, one can see how many ppl are on each side by the base count in the brief screen.

Please keep in mind that the S key information are invaluable to server admins, so I as a former admin would not support efforts taken to employ such a mod.

I AM a server admin and to have the ABILITY to be able to turn this of would be invaluable for certain areas of campaigns running a realistic setting within a closed server. i am asking for the "option" to be able to do this not to make it mandatory.

That base count thing is something else I'd like to see as a host selectable view option. Even more "fog of war" with those numbers being selectively removed.

Back to the S key info ... I don't think it should be an on/off switch, but rather a stepped toggle or conf.ini line with several possible variations. Something like:

OnlineRatings=

... with the host/server machine being the one in control of the setting for all clients, much like cloud display (TypeClouds=0, 1) is dependent upon server/host settings.
