Swastika/HakenKreuz Enable - taurus - 13.12.2008

[EDITED] 16th August 2009.

Apparently all you need is to add is the following line to your config.ini file. No other software required.

[game]
HakenAllowed=1

If this doesn't work then you could try this download.

HakenKreuz.rar @ filefront

Copy the HakenKreuz directory into your MODS folder.

MOD REMOVAL: If you have installed the HakenKreuz mod then rename the directory to -HakenKreuz. (With a minus sign infront.) Test the game to see if all is good. Then you can delete the -HakenKreuz directory to permanently remove it.

The mod is Beta and it worked for me, and I hoped that it would be of some use to others. Only the needed textures and mats have been added, nothing else.

NOTE: There may be incompatability issues with a similar program "Swastika Enabling Program for 1946 ONLY" over at Mission4today. Both mods are trying to acheive the same thing.

Taurus.

???
I did this with "HakenAllowed=1" ever since PF in the stock game.
No mods required for that, only that simple line in conf.ini, at least for me.

- taurus - 13.12.2008

I could not get the swastika to work after the sound mod. This was the only way I could get it to work again without installing matmanager or stabs, hence the post. I did try the simple text edit before going to all the trouble of extracting textures etc. I'm glad some people didn't have any problems. 8)

Thank you. This is very important for those of us who don't like our history edited. 8)

No Go here. I have the latest wrapper.

First I unzipped into a folder on the desktop, then copied the HakenKreuz folder into the "MODS" folder and added the line HakenAllowed=1 to the [game] section of the conf.ini.

I still get roundels for Finnish planes and no swastika on German rudders.

So what obvious (to everyone but me) thing did I miss?

I really miss being able to use the old enabler programs and would love to get this working.

Cheers mate, it's nice to have it on like it should of been.

- taurus - 13.12.2008

The pathway may be a little confusing. It should be something like

C:\program files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\

The HakenKreuz mod is copied "as is" into that directory so you should see something like this with the UI

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Taurus.

Thanks taurus,works perfectly! Big Grin

Hmmm, although my path is identical the contents are different. In the German folder I have the 4 .tga file but hacken0-hacken3 do not have the".mat" extension. In fact they have no extension at all. They are identified as Microsoft Access Tables under properties.

Can I manually add the ".mat" extension and have them work?

- Boris The Spider - 13.12.2008

Well that didn't work. I manually added the .mat extension but there is no difference.

I'll try to re-download them.

In case you haven't noticed I am a little PEEVED!
It turns out that when I extract OR drag-n-drop OR copy/paste those access table files into the folder I lose the .mat extension.
WTF?

The extensions are there in the .rar file.

Wait....is there any chance that the problem might be that I use WinZip to open .RAR files?

- Boris The Spider - 13.12.2008

Now this is just plain weird!
I re-enabled my RAR program and discovered that when using RAR the files retained their extensions.
OK. something new learned. (I wonder though why that is?)

However....   ...I still don't get historically correct markings! Silly looking Blue/White roundels for Finland and no swastika's on the German rudder.

GRRRRR!

- F4U-1_Corsair - 13.12.2008

ive seen that before on other threads, as long as they are identified as microsoft access tables, they will not work.

only way i know to fix it is uninstalling the program that uses them as microsoft access tables
