Im really confused by this thread.
Surely requests for patches should go directly to Ubisoft, no?

I don't think he is talking about "official" patches, if you get my drift ...

Ok, I'll start the ball rolling. I'd like the next patch to be called 4.09.
Next.

Hi Blue Angel,

Okay I'll start the ball rolling. I am assuming that a patch
is a mod soooo here is what I'd love to have. Its on the top of my wish list.

A patch to change the native IL2 FOV (field of vision) slots to have a wider angle of view.
Currently there are 13 slot ranging from 90deg to 20deg in 5 deg incriments.

There is a patch/util/mod program called San's FOV changer but its too unstable and
doesn't play well with the other kids - namely the 6dof mod.

I was hoping a modder could show us how to change the default wide view to say 101-106 deg
to get the true widescreen experience and compensate a bit for the lack of peripheral vision.
Plus you can enjoy flying in cockpit more because firstly you can see most of it at once and
your vision is not be so obscured by the console... It also makes it much simpler to land or taxi with a bit more peripheral vision.

I have been trying out San's FOV changer over the last coupla days and when it works its magical.
A totally different experience. Its like someone took off the blinkers and I could see again.

I am not sure how hard it will be to do, but maybe its simpler than I think. Regardless, I would like
someone to show me how to do it myself or create a little mod/util like IL2 manager.

A link to San's FOV changer Mod / utility

http://il2fovchanger.byethost7.com/

There are no contact details for San's on his site so I can't ask him directly - which is
a stinking shame cause out of all the mods made, I rate this FOV change to be right
up there with 6dof and the stunningly updated and realistic cockpit mods.

I feel that every effort should be made to bridge the gap between the virtual and real experience,
and to that point adding better peripheral vision brings us one huge step closer to that goal.
Its simply a more viseral and immersive sensation. And makes me WANT to fly in cockpit rather
than cheat view cause you can simply see more of the beautiful interior as WELL as more of the exterior.
Easier to judge decent on cockpit landings and far easier to taxi to runway. Better rearward visibilty and
a whole lot better deflection tracking. Shit, I could go on and on.

So Iam hoping that its a relitively straight forward task to change the native IL2 FOV angles.
And, fingers crossed, someone out there will take on the challenge / task. Godders, erm, I mean, modders willing.

Modders seem to be an elusive bunch, half myth half men. Although, having people
always asking you to perform like circus monkeys can grow pretty tired pretty quickly.

But Blue Angel did ask soooooo, well...

To all pilots who haven't tried San's FOV changer, this mod is a must try. You won't believe
the difference it makes to every aspect of your flying style. Within a few minutes you'll realise
just how much we compensate for the lack of peripheral vision in all areas of play.
Only drawbacks (which is a biggie) - Not too stable and doesn't work with z axis on 6dof (zoom)
so hotas hard to maintain. Would love to know feedback from others about their feelings on this subject
