Strange Crash to Desktop - Traven282 - 26.12.2008

As the topic says.

I play for 10-30 minutes, suddenly freeze and go to an all white screen-- then am told Il2 1946 has stopped responding. I've looked around this forum and a few others, but can't find many with a similar problem. I'm fearing it could be a driver issue (Nvidia 8800GT), but I'm also using Vista, so it could play a factor.

Any suggestions?

And to note, I don't recall this crash occuring with my clean install of IL2 1946 with all it's official patches-- but I could be wrong. Either way, I was curious to see if anyone out there had this strange problem-- and if they'd got it fixed somehow.

Video card over-heating?

Try this to update your driver.

I wouldn't see why or how, seeing as I have plenty of RAM and my card isn't exactly below 1946's minimal specs. It doesn't even get as loud when I play this as some of my other games, not to mention it wasn't doing this before I installed the different mods.

Up to date with the latest ones, though I think the problem may be with this newest driver. I'd rather not roll back unless I'm sure though-- which is another reason for this post. Wouldn't be the first time Nvidia's drivers have mulled with previously stable games, so it wouldn't be too far off to assume such now.

As an update for this issue:

I rolled back my driver for my video card to one from all the way in August and it fixed the problem. But I'm hoping there's some sorta fix on the way, or the next set of drivers will fix the problems I'm having. Anyone heard of or had this problem before? Perhaps there's a fix I'm just not aware of?

EDIT: Appears I'm not the only one with this issue. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 2671079417
