x52 mouse wheel woes - Pirate - 28.12.2008
Hi guys.
I have bought an x52 joystick, and have spent some time getting it setup. I have come across a problem that I can't find a solution for.
Basically if I load a profile into the stick the mouse wheel on the throttle lever stops working
this happens even if i don't change any of the configuration. Several people have posted on other forums about this but there aren't any answers forthcoming... but i imagine someone here will have solved this  The only thing I can think of is a conflict between the scroll wheel on the stick and my mouse, if that is the case, i'll dig out a mouse with no wheel.
I have been, and want to keep using this for the elevator trim, but this problem essentially means that i can't change anything in the SST software.
Aside from this little issue I'm really impressed with the x52, it is significantly better than the sticks i have used previously. There are only 2 other things that annoy me. The spring tension - a 'wet noodle' is the best description i have heard so far (gonna fix that) And the 'precision' slider... which is anything but precise. For the price though, you cant go wrong with the x52.
Thanks for your time, and any suggestions
Edit: Also has anyone found a way to get the MFD to display information from IL2 yet? I read about the device link mod, should I be waiting on that for this to become possible?

HI, I have been mulling over buying the x52 joystick as well. Do you have the x52 or the x52 pro version? As for an answer to your wheel problems I can't help you but am interested in seeing if you get an answer.
Where did you purchase yours from and for what price if you don't mind my asking?

Sorry as well to ask but i also am interested to buy the X52 Flight control. Do you have rudder controls in the standard one or is the pict i saw the pro?
Thanks Sorry for not answering your quest but i dont know thanks

Hey Ace
The x52 is a great buy. Though neither the standard or pro come with the rudder pedals. Here in england the pedals cost as much as the standard x52 (

Thanks pirate for your answer. I think i will just by the X52 Standard instead of wasting my money on the yoke, cause as you said it is mostly designed for Microsoft Flight Sim as i have read somewere else before but wanted some ideas on the object.
Thanks once again

Wanted to ask one question is it too hard to set it up those take a lot of time?
Thanks

I thought I had already replied to your last... maybe I forgot to submit it. Anyway. No It isn't very hard at all, essentially you can just plug and play (and set up your controls how you want them in il2) Alternatively the software that comes with it does allow a huge range of configuration and stuff, but it is not necessary to play with this too much if you don't want to.

Have no fear, If you currently have a standard stick, the x52 is 100 times better.

Just in case anyone finds this thread with the same problem I was having.... just forget about the mouse wheel - it suprises me that a company like saitek can release a product like this with a function that just doesn't work properly... there is no way to use the profile editor and have the wheel functioning, and if you use the wheel without any profile its inputs are sometimes completely random - doesn't respond, or totally over reacts.
Also unless you enjoy total disappointment don't go anyway near their forum either. I registered a week ago, and they still haven't activated my account (you actually have more access to the site without registering - go figure...)

hi pirate
i have an x52, they are great although sometimes you come up with an issue & it can spoil the fun.
I lost the mouse control on the throttle once, not the same problem as you but maybe you can find a solution here, this link helped me a lot, hope it helps you, i downloaded a patch & it sloved the issue, have a look & see if your ...lucky.
