Advanced engine options thread question? - slipper - 04.01.2009

I remember seeing a thread a few weeks ago that was talking about adding some hidden engine management options to the game.

I think they were things like engine torque, low oil pressure, engine wear, engine damage while inverted, fuel quality.

Could someone please direct me to the thread, i have done a search but cannot seem to find it. I was wondering if there was any progress as to it being implemented into the game.

there is such a mod but to tell you where would be a criminal offense at AAA lol

but yes there is one and it works quite well! but if you do get it remember to let your engine warm up to about 50oC before taking off other wise you will lose power and cause damage. Sad

I'm quire interested in this one... sounds fantastic. however if it is considered a fm change, or is against the AAA rules, i'll stay well clear - will keep an eye on this thread to see what the admin think....

Well, would be awesome for offline...or online Big Grin But only if everyone has it...

I am sure it was not a FM mod, it was just enabling some operations that had been disabled in IL2. I didn't realise there was already a mod for it, would love to give it a try. What happened to the post i saw here about it ? was it removed ? if so what was the problem ?

Technically, this would be ok, if it didn't touch the flight models. If someone can confirm this is the case, then by all means its a valid topic, and free to be discussed, even uploaded on these boards - but if not, then no...

I think i remember reading that it affected the players plane only, in the areas mentioned in the first post. I do not think it affected AI planes, so i suppose you would be at more of a disadvantage by having more engine functions to manage, that did not affect AI.

would be interesting to find out more though.

no its no an FM change but it affects everyone because to play together on the server that runs this mod you have to have the same files exactly. Magpie could send you a link if you want?

Hmm...sounds really very interesting Big Grin
Even if it

Wait i read right! this means random damage to the engine, go ahead it's a shame that engine allways work perfect, image breaing off from formation cause you oil pressure falls.

This mod broadly speaking DOES interfere with the flight models but in a global sense as it adds/changes some parameters to all aircraft. HOWEVER I would not deem it a cheat as there is no performance benefit to gain! All you can get out of it is some more ways to kill your engine Big Grin

Hope this gets accepted in here

This is so old news, OLEG had a form of this way back 6 years ago but he killed it off and never brought it back for reasons of his own, but i'm sure he had good reason to leave it out.

This mod would probably be the best ever made in terms to REALISM! Big Grin Hope it gets accepted also.
