MOD request Spitfire/Hurricane <<<WITHDRAWN>> - RRuger - 07.01.2009
I thought I just posted this but it's gone, oh well.
My original question is about the flaps on the Spitfire and the Hurricane. I've noticed that when I give the plane over to the AI they are able to set the flaps incrementally rather than full on of just off. Is there any way to MOD this so that we can adjust the flaps like the AI, incrementally? TIA...

I believe that the AI is wrong.

If you have a joystick like the X45 or X52 you can set the Flaps to one of the Rotary knobs on the throttle, I have Pitch set to one and Flaps on the other. I know this isn't exactly what you are asking but it give you the ability to set flaps incrementally.

Well that's close. I really wouldn't care how I set the flaps whether it be a mod or key settings but unfortunatly I gave a Saitek Cyborg Force 3D and the only variable control that I have is my throttle. Do you know if there is a way to set up my keyboard to do this?
Mr_G Are you saying that the flaps on the Spitfire and the Hurricane only have 2 settings?

He's right. Spitfire and Hurricane flaps are either up or down, no increments.

MouseWheel will do for flaps.

hmmmmm, will give that a try

Remember the real thing, as stated, didn't have those incremental stages of flap, and they worked fine as they were.. I don't think there should be a mod for it as its not historical fact..
When Spits were flown off carriers for Op Pedastel, they did however 'chock' the flaps with wedges of wood to generate that extra lift required for a deck take-off..
Although I have the ability to 'map' this feature to my set up, I don't bother with it as its not really required.

I read in an autobiography that one of the Malta bound units took off and formed up with the chocks still in place, then flew back over the deck of the carrier and cycled the flaps so as to bomb the deck with the chocks!!

Now that would be cool!

Well you've enlightened me once again Troop, I just assumed that if the AI can do it we should be able to, not the case. I trust what you say unless you're just getting even for something
so I withdraw this request do to it's irrelevancy to historical content, thank you...
