"Glamerous Glenna" was Yeager's acft. Now that I think about it it may have been "Glamerous Glen" maybe 2 acft. I think he was shot dowm. Can't find my bio on him.

"Hurry Home Honey" is Major Richard Peterson's P-51 Mustang. I couldn't find Chuck Yeager's P-51 Mustang skin.

Yes Chuck's aircraft was "Glamorous Glen", and he was shot down and interned in Switzerland. Although despite being 'neutral' imprisoned him amongst others. He subsequently escaped with a colleague, and due to the colleagues serious leg injury( Chuck had to amputate it with a pen knife! ) Chuck had to carry his now unconsious friend over the mountains before finally making his way back to the UK, I think with help from resistance members.
Sorry for the somewhat lengthy reply.

read the book like 25 years ago and wife clean house since then! LOL! Thanks, I had forgotten the part about the leg! How many young soldiers, sailors and Marines even carry a "pen" knife? Won't talk bad about the new ones though both my sons haved served is serving as has more than half of my nieces and nephews!

In fact the book I read was "The mighty eighth" which is primarily about the B17 raids, but Chuck Yeager's story was told as it was relevant to the story of Switzerlands treatment of interned personnel.
( No offense is intended to any Swiss members of this forum ).
Another good P51 ace book is Robert Goebel's book aptly named "Mustang ace" which if you don't already know is about his time with the 308thFS,31stFG,15thAF in Italy.
