joystick problem - freakypunk1 - 20.01.2009

I have bought an Apollo GP-3000 joystick, and I have a question. Is there possible to play Il2 with this joystick using an analogs to move with plane?

I don't see why not... if windows picks it up as a game controller. You should be able to assign the axis in IL2. Though I would recommend a joystick over this, would be far more intuitive - give it a go and find out Smile

it doesnt let me assign the axis, i press every button on my joystick but nothing changes Sad

Is windows picking it up at all? doesn't sound like it. you can check in control panel, game controllers. If not you may need drivers for it - these you should be able to find on the internet, or a disk that was provided with it.

Two years ago, while I worked at a lan gaming house (or how you call it) there was I guy who played Il2 with this kind of joypad, using analog sticks for it. So it must be possible, just try some more stuff to make it work..

errr, sorry, I'm running out of ideas....

In control panel, game controllers, properties is there a page showing the X, Y etc. axis? if there is, and it still doesn't work, maybe its not compatible - that said you can assign a mouse wheel to do any axis you want - and I've never seen any compatibility issues - i even tried using pedals from a steering wheel setup for the rudder (needless to say they were rubbish for it)

Also Is there programming software with the pad? It would be worth playing around with it if there is, failing that.... your probably out of luck.

In my humble opinion I think you should just buy yourself a real flight joystick, there are cheap ones that are more than enough for this game. There's really no point in struggling with joypads for this game.

whell I'll try what I can
Thanks for your help

Im pissed!!
I tryed everything but axis doesnt change when I move my analog damnit!!!
I play nba live 2k9 with same joystick and everything works fine
I mean what the hell?!!!

Did you go down to the bottom of the controls list, where it says HOTAS CONTROL? This is where you must assign the axes.

- freakypunk1 - 21.01.2009

yes i did everything i was talking about in hotas controls

- Junkers - 21.01.2009

I know you said you installed the driver already, but maybe you should try this anyway,http://www.apollomultimedia.eu/?s=p&kat=10&iD=201. Just click the tab that says Drivers to download and then install it after. There is also a manual which may help, but I couldn't understand it.

- freakypunk1 - 21.01.2009

i did how you said but still nothing, maybe there is some kind of controls notepad text in il2 sturmovik directory where you can change something i dont know, im starting to give up...
But thanks for waisting your time for me, thats realy kind of you all.

I'm happy to help, I'm just sorry I couldn't solve the problem. I'll check some other forums to see what I can find.
