boot up issue - devineprod - 20.01.2009

hi guys i have recently bought il2 1946 and am having a hard time getting the boot up screen with out the windows bar at the bottom. when i click on it or c+a+d it it goes full screen and i can control c the movie and i am at the game menu page. now heres the serious problem and i have tried this over and over again. if i c+tab it crashes to a reboot. if i hit the windows button it crashes to reboot. if i c+a+d it crashes to reboot. i have turned the windows bar option (keep bar on top of pages) option off i have set the video card to ati i have changed screen rez.

now the first install was the same however i got it to work and it bypassed the movie. how? i can not say. anyway after trying to install the 1.0 patch after the 4.08m patch unsucssesfully "could not fopy file" error i reinstalled and patched 4.08m sucsses and the 1.0 patch sucsses again then i tried to play but 5% load crash to reboot.

so i uninstalled the game tried again with the 4.08m patch only sucsses (copying files) tried to play and i have not been able to get out of the game board (screen after movie) since.

i am running an amd athlon x2 5200 with an ati 1950 pro.

any help??? randy

I also have an acer display. Sometimes when I quit the game my desktop resolution drops to the res I use in the game, I've never figured out why - but it isn't much of a problem. I would disable the acer display manager from starting up with windows (if it does) or not starting it yourself - then see if the problem persists. It is possible your problem is related to mine in some way... though that is a guess.

Might be worth not opening the catalyst manager either - there isn't any need to have it running in the background.

Good Luck Smile

Dont know why your crashing to desktop but if you open your conf.ini file, scroll down to the section tht starts with [game], find the line that reads intro=1, change the 1 to a 0 and save. This will stop the Movie from loading

okay so i installed the copy that worked (4.08 then 1.0) i went into the files looking for said file but i turned 4 switchs on and now it works without a hitch. there are more switches but first i must save this setting.
keeping you posted randy
