Scattering/Running/Advancing Battlefield Troops - WindWeapon - 27.01.2009
I have seen activity when strafing a convoy where troops seem to vacate the vehicles and run to avoid being blown up during the strafing run. I was wondering if troop movements could also be seen over battlefields?
Say, when your flight is tasked with ground support and you are flying in low to soften up an enemy compound, you see advancing troops along with tanks towards the objective. The movie "The Longest Day" has a great scene of a german pilot flying over the D-Day beaches and you see all the allied troops running below as he strafes them. I would think it would a great addition, especially for invasion landing missions, or battle field CAS. Perhaps even simply see troops moving around at a given target objective.

Its the sort of thing that would complete OOF

Actually, from my limited knowledge on this issue, i don't think it's really possible because as far as i've seen: 1st there's no walking animation or variable "human" speed.
2nd it's usually a pre-made run and duck animation.
Unless of course troops could be implemented as objects like trucks etc grouped or single with waypoints etc. But i don't know how it would be possible to kinda desyncronize every single unit to achieve a more natural look. I'm guessing it would need a lot of scripting work. But then again, I'm not the smartest cookie on this matter  . Just my 2c
Cheers
