oops Elevators on carriers - RRuger - 16.02.2009

I put this up in the wrong section before so lets give this a go.

Some time back there was discusion about the elevators being operable on the aircraft carriers. I think the first time I remember seeing it was at SimHQ about the time that Pacific Fighters came out and some had heard or speculated that maybe the elevators on the carriers might be going up and down, to simplify it.

Can this be done by one of the modders or do we have this ability do to limitations of the game, can this be done? Thanks and if this question has been asked in the past, forgive my ignorance

I am fairly certain that there is no provision in the game engine which would enable this. In the same way that there is no real provision for hanger starts on airfields.

Also the aircraft carrier models have not been made with this in mind. The elevators are not modelled as separate elements.

-- Shame it cant be done it would be cool to watch the aircraft being brought up from the hanger and moved to takeoff positions, especially if you were just diving to your bomb release point at the time.

Asheshouse,

You can now perform a first person hangar start.

All you need is the reduced airfield mod. Position your first take off point inside the hangar and the next waypoint just outside in the direction you wish to look.

I use it all the time now, however, I do not know if it works for on-line play as I have not yet done that...

Just a thought.

Dude this game is run by java no some special limited script. And infact all the elevator;s on the carrier;s actually are separate object's. And it wouln't be impossible to make a hanger. Problem is to get the Ai to taxi then wait then taxi again then launch is just to unreal. (And either way usually the planes would be on the deck warming up before launch.
