A "Slot-ty" day - Simplex - 21.02.2009

I already posted those in the camapign thread as some sort of AAR and thank you for the great cmapaign but thought it also belongs here. I hope you enjoy them...

Take Off at Henderson for heading out towards the CAP area over the Russel Islands (Got to cheat here as this mission did not include droptanks but I lost the iamges from takeoff...)
[Image: 3279405679_d4746f6b4d_o.jpg]

After a long and action less CAP, sun already closed in to the horizon and drop tanks already lost, we eventually got one of those light twin engine bombers keeping our jarheads awake at Guadalcanal. My leader already battered him and I'm moving in for another punch
[Image: 3280225772_a933eaf6e7_o.jpg]

After buzzing him vertically I roll around to see if he got enough...
[Image: 3279405449_9f647e05a3_o.jpg]

...only to find him still going
[Image: 3280225840_e437c3f4e8_o.jpg]

Seconds later flight leader brought him down. I do a last check over the open sea but as we can'T find anything moving it's time to move out
[Image: 3279405301_a82cefdb4f_o.jpg]

When we went feet dry again the sun already vanished and only some few last rays sneak around the horizon sparkling in the bellies of our 'Sairs
[Image: 3280225484_466aca32f8_o.jpg]

About the same time we got informed a second twin mot, a Betty, reached the vincity of Henderson. Must have taken the northern route via Santa Isabel and Florida Islands
[Image: 3279405161_312c6e5de0_o.jpg]

He appeared too early for us but the remaining light allowed the Triple-A teams to bring him down. All left for us is the still smoking wreck in the jungle
[Image: 3279404961_34b4657207_o.jpg]

We're called in for landing and I'm doing al ast round over the field to get into the pattern

Two more from other missions:

Could you kindly return your super-computer to the NASA, no normal people are supposed to have such good graphics. Very nice screens! :lol:

How to get such graphics il IL-2 1946? - mavyalex - 21.02.2009

Hello,

Were your pictures computer enhanced or wre they really from the the original game?
What's your PC configuration? I didn't know one could get such beautiful graphics with this game. Of course you used perfect settings (maximum settings)

When I compare your shots with mines, I feel like I run an 80's version of IL- 1946 :-(

But that is because I use an loaptop with integrated Intel video card (which runs IL-2 1946 with UU 1.1 and all available mods quite decently with High settings though!)
I'm awaiting my new "standard" PC (powerful) for soon and everything will change (well I hope)...

I can do this because I configured my (old) laptop to do only one thing: connect to the Web and play Il-2 1946! (so it runs very smoothly with minimum resident programs and regular defrags)...

wow, nice flame effect and a story

Thank you guys!

As for the BoB pics earlier in this thread all of them are directly from the game only with some added highlights, shadows and subtle color adjustments to get a nicer mood.

I'm plaing in 1920x1200 with the follwing settings (opengl, of cause):

[Image: settings.jpg]
Here the driver settings - I'm using nhancer as it allows more options than the vanilla nvidia panel. Sorry for it being german but I suppose you get the idea.

Here the important parts of the conf.ini:
Code:
[Render_OpenGL]
TexQual=3
TexMipFilter=2
TexCompress=0
TexFlags.UseDither=0
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0
TexFlags.UseIndex=0
TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0
TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1
TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=0
TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0
TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1
TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1
TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1
TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0
TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0
TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=0
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=0

TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=1
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=1

HardwareShaders=1

Shadows=2
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

Sky=2
Forest=3
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=2
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
Water=2
Effects=2
ForceShaders1x=0

PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0

The high game resolution and small posting size (800x...) you get a really smooth look already.

Hats off,
Simplex

Perfect setting? - mavyalex - 21.02.2009

Hi,

Impressive configuration.. You must be using a great video card..
Anyway, I can't select the "Perfect" setting in Il-2 1946 (Terrain)...It is in grey and I can't clik on it.
Any idea why and how can I do to get this Perfect setting working?

Thanks.

Some stunning pics there!

Config is one and a half year old now.. c2d e6850 with 3GHz, 4GB Ram, Vista, 8800GTX...
I don't know how the settings correlate. Have you set the game to opengl? I think there was something like it only works if another setting is suitable and it could be the opengl setting.

Hope that helps but really, I'm not sure.

Perfect Setting - mavyalex - 21.02.2009

Whether using Direct X or OpenGl I can't select the Perfect setting.
Is it because I use a laptop PC and integrated video card (Intel 915 GMS) that doesn't have Shader 2.0 neither T&L ?
Despite this low config I run the game smoothly as I said, but graphics are not like tours for sure...

- Dixiecapt - 21.02.2009

some of that looks familur, hehe.

I am sure that it is the drivers that cause this. I have had that before

Driver problem? - mavyalex - 22.02.2009

Drivers may be the problem you say? I've got the latest drivers for my integrated graphic card and Windows is up to date...
Can I make a configuration modification myself to get the Landscape detail Perfect setting or would it be too complex?

Excellent - ={TTU}=Zumbach - 13.03.2009

Very nice what Graphic Card do you have ?

- Dixiecapt - 14.03.2009

Only 2 missions left to build until the second tour of the VMF-213 Campaign is complete.

Are you all ready to bring the Pain to Munda Simplex?
