Unified Installer version 1.1nsm ( No Sound Mod) - GOZR - 26.02.2009
Hello guys, Here a request from many that have a different taste, different hardware or other reasons.
It would be a great deal of service to have a "Unified Installer version 1.1nsm" nsm meaning no sound mod at all.
This Unified Installer should be even smaller due to less files.
This would help the community to stay tight and together .
The sounds mods are already in different corners of this site but so i really think that this Unified Installer no sounds should work very well .
This is a no place to argue about this is a very sincere request for many that really wish to fly the mods but don't share the same ideas for the sounds and that have no idea how to do this manually.
Thank you from the community.

Funny... my install of UI 1.1 doesn't have any sounds at all (not even the default ones).
I guess our version got mixed up?

I agree with Gozr. Such a mod would be very gratefully received.

Hi fellows! It's a matter of tastes, I know. Personally I find the new sounds simply amazing and very immersive, but not everyone may think the same, I know. Tastes are tastes, eheh!
But there's good news for you guys, AAA has the answer for everyone! Just read here:
(The link is inoperative). I think that's just what you need guys. Cheers.

It doesn't completely work. Some Mod sounds remain and ini file editing is required to get UI to run and it removes the Ju88torp

...did anyone consider amount of time and work needed for double versions of UI packs ...producing /testing/ bug fixing ?
just a thought ...

Yes Flyzo this is why a MOD install should be with out sound = smaller size easy download and lets the sounds amateurs download a separate module.. even now there are different sounds versions and i can imagine the head hake. The fact is we are not here to discuss if the sounds are good or not it doesn't matter and everyone have different experiences.
I think finding members wanting to test a new Unified install should be real easy
This is not a personal request i have no problem
but this is for the community and i think the "Unified installer
NSM v1.0" will come out even stronger through the general community.
All the work here are very appreciated.

PS: It's good to give it a name

Hnestly i think 2 more UI need to come out. UI Light Were it only give you necessary planes and customs maps from the AAA, And also a UI Uberlight were it done grades the quality of the game further. That way i can ply IL2 on my black Berry.

Removing the sounds might be better for the community if and only if:
1. Reverting back to original sounds does not create a new CRT2 server and client requirement.
2. Enough testing to determine if reverting to basic sounds can in fact coexist in crt2 along with the new current 1.1 sounds.
Question: If the server and client removes the Ju88/Torp and the client reverts to the game sounds. Can the client join if the server has CRT2 set?
- zulu64 - 27.02.2009
If CRT=2 only looks at the class files then commenting out the JU88Trop in 2 ini files should not be an issue. However to get this work around method to work you need to replace the UI Buttons file for one from Ac_Installer 2.9 or 3. Not sure if CRT=2 looks at the buttons file.
Either way this is not a complete solution as some sounds are still Mod sounds.
A quick fix would be to release a new AC_installer compatible with Mod Activator that includes the JU88torp. In this manner Mod_Activator users could at least keep up with all the latest mods and still retain ALL the original game sounds.

In a couple of CoOp (Not dedicated server) tests I have run CRT=2 would appear to look at more than just class files.
TEST 1
UI 1.1 patch 1
JU88Torp Commented out of 2 ini files (planes.ru.properties and air.ini)
Buttons file from Ac Installer ver 3.0
Server running stock UI 1.1 patch 1 CRT=2
I was kicked with Timeout = 1 message
Test 2
UI1.1 Patch 1
Standard UI install but with JAFA sounds installed (Just WAV and prs files)
Server running stock UI 1.1 patch 1 CRT=2
I was kicked with Timeout = 1 message.
In addition in the past CRT=2 poses issues anyway if the server and the player have differrent OS.
Iam not sure if any changes in the logic since UI 1.1 to stop this OS issue.
