Splash Screen: How do I change it? - csvousden - 06.03.2009

Everything about my new computer and freshly installed game with Unified Mods 1.1 including the patch is wonderful, but I would love a splash screen instead of just a blank white screen.

Any ideas? I did download a splasch screen program but it does not make sense for 4.09 because it calls for altering the filelist, but I don't have one.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

UI splashscreen or default one?
UI splashscreen can be found from MODS folder

I can see a beautiful splash screen in the mods folder that I would love to have appear when I start the game, but I would even settle for the default one.

I just get a blank white monitor while the game loads.

Any ideas how to make either one show up? I would be grateful.

Have a look in ...IL2Root/Mods/SplashScreen/GUI folder, there should be 2 files, one being background.tga - this is the "picture" file for the loading splashscreen. If it's not there then there are a couple of ways to fix things - the easiest would be to delete the "Files" and "Mods" folders (you can rename them to "-Files" & "-Mods" if you want to keep them) and re-install the UI.

Alternatively you could run the UI installer and point it at a temp folder - eg C:/Temp and when it has finished navigate to the c:/temp/mods/SplashScreen/GUI folder and copy the contents to your current installation.

I notice that you have a new computer, I'm assuming it has Vista, if so make sure your IL2 installation is NOT under the C:\Program Files folder, Vista does some strange stuff with permissions there.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

The splash screen comes in fine now, and I have no idea why, but I like it.

Thanks.
