UI and autopilot - ex_RAAF_Elecfitter - 15.03.2009

Before I installed UI one thing I liked about the sound mod etc was that the autopilot stayed on when returning to the cockpit view from an external view, unlike the original game.

Now that I have installed UI, its back to auto pilot disabling itself. Is there a fix/setting for this?

mine doesn't do that. My autopilot stays on when re-entering the cockpit and I have UI 1.1. It may just be a certain MOD turned on at the moment. I turned off a lot of the MODs that I don't use on a regular basis so I may have turned off one that would disengage Autopilot when re-entering the cockpit.

Actually, I wish it would cut off when I re-enter; I have an option set up to enter the cockpit and keep that auto-pilot on, it's the Jump to cockpit #1 option. That allows you to jump to that cockpit and the autopilot stays on.

There's a setting in-game for this: Toggle Level Autopilot.

EDIT: That's a key setting, btw, not an option setting. Turn it on to let the AI take over the a/c when you switch cockpit positions, views, etc. Off the AI won't take over.

Or check your controls profile for the Autopilot Automation feature... This will allow you to make it do what you want. I've set mine so that when I skip from cockpit to gunner station, the autopilot doesn't kick in for flight and I'm still watching the AI move the gun around. I have to click my mouse wheel to enable or disable autopilot for flight control of gunner control to enable/disable my input.
