Arghhh, my game ran ok prior to deleting some skins... - DK-nme - 15.03.2009

Hi.

I've deleted some skins and suddenly my game will not run. A windows error message says something like this after 20% loading time:

Instruction by "0x0f9f0a57" refered to memory by "0x11a1d0". Memory couldn't "read"

(translated from danish, so perhaps wrong words, but true code message).
What on hell does that mean. Anybody out there knowing of this, plz help me out...

This may sound silly, but try rebooting your machine and see what happens. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. 8)

I have tried that already. I've installed a fresh copy of the game on the harddrive and further more installed the UI 1.1. Game ran ok, but after some minor changes, adding some new MODS not included in the UI 1.1, and as said above, removing skins from the paintscheme folder, suddenly my game crashes at 20%.

I don't get it. I've not changed anything vital (I think), so any idea's?

I will of course try to reboot for the third time, but I dont think that will help...

...and no, third reboot didn't help either. Windows xp is telling me of a program exe error, but not what, when and how I can repair or fix this!

What to do next, re-install the whole darn thing (I sincerely hope not)???

Any Config.ini conflicts perhaps???

In my experience, that error is normally associated with a lack of ram. I normally see it when I try to open a map file that is too large, when using the unlocked/map editor version of the FMB (the unlocked FMB stores maps in ram). I suspect the skins delete had nothing to do with it, and is merely a coincidence.

try clearing the cache of the game and the computer cache. maybe pagefile as well.

Might give sense, though I've got 2 GB of ram on my rig. I have felt my PC stalling once in a while and from time to time. Also having problems with ordinary tasks, not only crashing the game when playing. This is why I re-installed in the first place - now the game will not load at all...
:x
