Merchant & Capital ship aircraft catapaults - Smeghead - 21.03.2009
G'day,
Some time ago I posed the question of the possibility of an aircraft catapault system to be mounted on merchant ships and cruisers, battleships etc, for aircraft like Hurricanes, Arado sea planes, Supermarine Walrus's, Kingfishers etc.
I thought that the V1 launching catapault would be a perfect platform to modify to these ships. I guess the biggest issue is how hard would it be to modify the aircraft.
Not knowing the first thing about modding and I bow in the presence of those that are wise in the ways of this dark art, I think that this would be ab awesome mod to add to the game for all theatres and campaigns... With the new aircraft coming out such as the Walrus, maybe we could implement the catapault capability before the release of these new aircraft??

I think it's great there is a mod for catapults on carriers already so they can use that for a start. I guess one factor is the modeling of the launch ramp on the battleships and cruisers.

I'd like to be able to launch from other ships than carriers too. Sometimes, even on dogfight servers you have boatplanes that are not used by many and they are launched from remote sites with little use. Launching from a battleship give a rather good AAA support and good observation point for that team... if communication is good.
