... does this "agree" with vista 64 ( and its directx 10 ) ? I did read somewhere that dx9 can get installed over DX 10 without issues
anyone tried it ?
thanks in advance

Whats the difference between this and 9c ? Is "end user runtimes" the same as 9c?

Not 100% sure, but these are additional... uhm... scripts? They are optimized files, to improve DirectX's performance and/or fix bugs.

I tried them out on my xp laptop (lowend) and I have to say that framerates and memory usage is better than with Open GL. Even heavy maps like Thailand and Philippines now run smoother. I have to say that due to hardware limitations I am running Il-2 with Excellent mode not Perfect
- JAMF - 30.03.2009
Not being able to run in "Perfect" mode is a consequence of running the game in DirectX mode (more accurately D3D mode). If you get better frame rate in D3D compared to OpenGL in the same ("excellent" ) mode, it's the users choice to run with which he thinks is best, of course.
These files should help with other DirectX components too, like DirectSound, DirectPlay and the like, so maybe running in OpenGL and "Perfect" with these runtime improvements will give better fps too.

If you want to know which version of Directx you have in your computer (assuming that you have windowsxp) just go to Start - run - then in the command line just type dxdiag a screen will popup telling everything about your directx. In any case the dx drivers are in your windows/ system32 folder

Quote:windows/ system32 folder
hi, it needs updating because it hasn't been done since my last install, 1 yr ago.
Yes windows xp is my system, i will install in above folder, i believe this is correct?
i will then report some feedback.
thanks guys for assisting me on this, much appreciated
