x52 throttle axis does not show in IL2...Vista OS - Snapper23 - 28.03.2009

OK real quick...here is where I am.

Got the stick and installed from the CD. trouble with driver install...used the d3drm.dll trick...installed.

Trouble with throttle not responding in game...downloaded drivers and SST from website...programmed profile...still no response from throttle in game. Removed HID drivers but not USB drivers due to lack of permission. reinstalled drivers and SST...no joy.

Throttle responds in joystick control panel but not in IL2 or IL2-JoyControl. Trying to get into the Saitek forum but registration is still pending. set throttle for band function and assigned it to power up and power down (1 click each for test) it responded but only 5% throttle increase or decrease. This tells me it is not defective.

What do I need to modify for my setup to recognize the x52 throttle axis? Sorry if this has been answered already...I did make a valiant effort to find a post.

I hope I have given enough info...let me know what else you may need from me.

Hi i have problems installing the dirvers as well, but the best thing to do and make all works perfectly, is when you download the driver from website, don't save the file, use the option open with and will be installed straigh from internet and all will works without problem.

Why don't you set it in the games controls screen, down the bottom in the HOTAS section?

It might be worth trying the latest beta drivers for the x52, they are far better than the very old drivers/software which comes on the CD. Check your PMs for accessing the saitek site Smile

As several others have said, the throttle needs to be set up in the "Controls" options.
After you click on the "Controls" button on the main game screen, scroll down to the "Hotas" section at the bottom. Select the empty box accross form "Power" and then move your throttle. An entry will be made in the box.
That should fix it if that is all that was wrong. If your throttle works in reverse, go back and do it again but move the throttle the other way.

The problem is that when I go to the HOTAS settings and move the throttle slider, the game does nothing. It jus sits there waiting for an input. I will try to run the drivers directly form the site but I have already downloaded them and installed them so I am not sure what the difference would be.

I don't know if this will help if Il2 isn''t detecting the z axis, but these are the entries in my conf.ini for the x52 - it includes the trim wheels which I calibrated in il2joycontrol. But if you are still having problems this might help....

it would be best to save the entries you already have. and paste these in instead.

I could send you my x52 profile, conf.ini and users folder and see if my setup works for you.... PM me your email if you are interested.

Pirate and the rest of the contributors here, thank you for your efforts. I always know where to come for the right help even if it is so you can hunt me down in game!

Here is what I learned. I had previously been running a Saitek Av8r-01 stick after my Logitech broke. Though I had installed the new drivers, the game still thought I was using the Av8r. Running setup (the same one used to turn off the startup movie) and going to the video tab I was able to select the right stick. My problem was compounded by the fact that I left my Av8r stick plugged in when I installed the x-52 and IL2 got confused.

In my aggrivation, I just reformatted as the problem then traced back to the USB drivers that are native to Vista and I did not want to try to break out the components.

Happy to say, I am up and flying...well after I set up my controllers anyway! Thanks again and I appreciate all of the top rate assistance!

Salute!
