Messerschmitt BF-109G-14 Armour weight - Slow - 29.03.2009
Hello chaps,
Can any one of you specify the armour weight of the Bf-109G-14?
Thanks in advance,
Slow

Slow, do you mean the ingame or real armour weight?
- Slow - 29.03.2009
Any of the two is welcome, but the real life one would be perfect.

Ok, maybe this from wiki:
'The G-14, appearing in mid-1944, was basically a late-war Bf 109 G-6 with .... Armour weight was increased to 200 lb (91 kg). Take-off weight was 7986 lb'
That result I'm not sure about, though, it's obviously missing something in the ... part.
Have you had a look here:

Hi mate - ={TTU}=Zumbach - 29.03.2009
i just dicovered that it had 1 droptank and a 1x 13mm cannon it was over or near 6000kg body Adding to the last ditch nature of this task force, the only mission had flown on 7 April 1945 by a sortie of 120 Bf 109s. While only 15 Allied bombers had attacked in this manner, eight had successfully destroyed. A 100th Bomb Group B-17 had attacked by a Sonderkommando Elbe Me-109 but only damaged; the German Pilot was not kill.

I do not believe that, as the max takeoff weight of a normal 109 lies little over 3000kg

Anyway, hereby I announce the "Rammjaeger Bf-109" as a mod. A Bf-109 stripped down from armour and weapons for the ramming job.
Slow.

Interesting. May I know wha tyour sources are?
A totally different point: armour is successfully removed and I already got shot down a few times by defensive gunners of B-24s before I had a ramming chance.
- Karaya - 31.03.2009
Sources are mentioned in the first sentence, primary sources that include GLC charts and "Handb

I don't know much about htis 109. Was it actually used as a ramming plane?
I know the tactic was used, but thought it was more of a 'in the moment' kind of thing, rather than an actual tactic, which they actually designed a plane for? Interesting... 8)
- Karaya - 31.03.2009
My guess is that it really was just a hasty field mod, after all if you decide to use your aircraft for ramming what use is the armour and weaponry on it and afterall its not really that much of a difficulty to remove it.
- Slow - 31.03.2009
The planes used were Kurf
