Proceeding to Next mission without fulfilling objectives? - StargazerWoods - 30.03.2009
Hiya,
I'm pressing on trying to put together a series of missions and am slowly getting better and more familiar with the FMB. I'm now setting waypoints, altitudes and speeds without any problems.
One new problem though that is starting to get in the way a little is this: Despite the primary objective has not been achieved, the statistics screen still shows the Apply button which will allow the pilot to proceed to the next stage of the campaign/story without fulfilling the point of the mission.
I have set a target radius near my GAttack waypoint and selected it as primary with no time-out. I have set landing back at home base as secondary with no time-out.
Is this the wrong way to approach it or have I missed something somewhere? I'm sorry to have so many questions about this blasted FMB thing. At this rate it would probably be kinder on all of you and myself to outsource the project to someone who knows what they are doing but I'm taking a break from all my other hobbies and this is about the only thing stopping me from going mad with boredom.
As usual, any and all help is gratefully received.
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Ever heard of the "no instant success" option in the campaign setup?

go to avsims.com or click my sig.
There is some information that will be a good help to your mission building.
Moving on between Campaign missions can be a terrible nuisance.
You have to get a mission complete to advance.
Look at the bit about Recon-Target. It's is a little complex, but the pictures help.
Good Luck

Bearkiller: Although I won't rule anything out at this stage since I'm barely past noob status in FMB, I'm not totally convinced it is a Instant Success issue. I say that on the grounds that I do not receive any MISSION COMPLETE message at any stage lime i have done previously when testing a DCG thing that went horribly wrong. I will do some option flicking and see if it solves anything.
NearMiss: I will check out the site you link to. I've found a couple of sites that have offered invaluable input, however, avsims has not yet been one of them. I will certainly stop by this evening and see what's what.
Thanks chaps,
Rob.

Well... it wouls seem I am halfway there...
I flicked the No Instant Success switch and now the option to proceed to the next mission is no longer available in mid-flight. However, I do get the mission complete message immediatley after acheiving the primary goal, whilst deep in enemy terriotory.
Being a bomber mission, half the challenge is getting there, the other half is making it back out. While I will not insist that the flyer make it all the way back to home base, I would at the very least expect them to make it to friendly air-space before either ditching or hi-jacking someone elses airfield.
While I will accept things the way they are right now and just hope that anyone hardcore enough to want this campaign will be hardcore enough not to quit until the mission has played out properly, it would still be cool to enforce it.
Any further suggestions or advice would be diamond.
Thanks,
Rob.

You can set a reconnaisance waypoint as an objective. Once you set the recon waypoint, you can increase/decrease the radius thrhough which the player has to fly to achieve the objective. Optionally, you can make landing near that waypoint a requirement to meet the objective also.
